Eye Catching Crafts #Handmade #Folksy

Have decided to go for random listings today. All those wonderful things that make you look twice. Scrolling through the new listings on Folksy I kept finding gorgeous things that caught my eye because they seemed to stand out. So I decided that I would have to have them on here.
Well yesterday I looked after the 4 grandchildren while my daughter was at work. For those that didn`t see yesterdays blog, I decided it would be fun to make a Pinata for the 4 yr olds 5th birthday in a couple of weeks. I spotted a blog tutorial and thought it looked fun and easy. Hmmm.... It started off easy.
I laid everything out after covering the table. This was of course outside which turned out to be the best idea I had had. The 2 yr old refused to wear an apron and didn`t want to take part, fair enough. The 4 yr old was very keen, while the older two hadn`t made it downstairs at that point.
So we mixed flour and water and ripped up lengths of newspaper after hanging the balloons from the washing line. Inspired I thought. Hmm.... It was up to a point. We made a start and it was a bit messy but we were having fun. The 12 yr old joined in closely followed by the 14 yr old and her friend. Then we thought, there are more balloons and we could blow them up bigger. How about if we have a go at making an elephant!
The other year in Norwich, lots of groups and schools made and decorated elephants and they were put in various places around the city. At the end of the summer they were auctioned off for charity.
The children all loved them, hence the idea to have a go at making one. So bigger balloons and more of us meant another bowl of flour and water paste. So they we all were dripping lovely white blobs all over the patio and over ourselves too. The little one thought it was funny to go backwards and forwards under the balloons in spite of the older ones telling him no. That happened while I was mixing more flour and water. Not sure the consistency was right, maybe I should have read the instructions a bit more. Still we did have a laugh and by the time we had finished adding layers the patio area and ourselves were quite a sight. By this time the floor was nearly all white and we weren`t much better. It was in our hair and on our faces and all over our clothes and shoes. Well, I say shoes, I actually still had my slippers on. Suffice to say that you can imagine the state of them. Now the ballons have been left to dry before more layers are added.
More tomoorow, if they have dried.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

School holidays are lots of fun
tired and weary when the day is done.
Lots to do and places to go
summer days in the flow.
Lazy days no timetable to keep
no following the crowd like sheep.
Look in the library and on the Net
find what`s happening and get set.
Picnics out and playing in the park
holidays are great and such a lark.
Now all we want is the summer sunshine
for long days outdoors we need it fine.
My lot have got into finding treasure
they seem to have got it`s measure.
Geo Cache seems the thing to do
all you do is follow clue after clue.
Or like us you can do a craft
so enjoyable we laughed and laughed.
A little forthought would have been better
and followed the instructions to the letter.
That way there would have been less mess,
hard work clearing up, I must confess.
You don`t have to spend lots of money
when there`s so much to do for free!
