Go Eco #FolksyFriday

I looked at Folksy`s front page and saw a section for Sustainable Gifts, which gave me an aha moment. I thought, eco friendly, why not.
I had a look through their choices and put some on here, then I looked further and put eco and upcycled into the search. That produced a few more, but I really struck gold when I put recycled into the search box. They were more what I call eco friendly, using sustainable materials and recycling or upcycling as it is sometimes called now.
Although I have to say that Eco means different things to different people. For some it means using wood but to me that is not good unless it`s reclaimed wood because we need the trees and far too many are cut down already.
It has become more `trendy` to be eco friendly and recycle etc which is good because if we don`t do more to repair our planet there won`t be anything left that is natural upon it.
I could write reams upon this subject but I won`t as there are many articles already about. Would be nice to see more people concerned about the amount of waste we produce especially in electronics but the need for the latest gadget and the greed of the manufacturer seems to override common sense.
Ooops, I wasn`t going to go on about it, so I`ll stop there.

Plane trails streaked the sky
luminous lines up on high.
Shame they are caused by pollution
now we really need a solution!
Eco is now the way to go
recycling isn`t just for show.
Too much is just thrown away
with no thought for another day.
While rubbish starts to pile high
many do no more than sigh.
They shake their heads and look away
that`s a problem for another day.
We all need to make do and mend
share, beg, borrow and lend.
Electronics all wear out too quick
their useful life gone in a tic.
Nothing big is now is made to last
a washing macine`s life is soon past.
Once they lasted for many a year
but now it`s always, buy new gear.
The day is passing for mass produced might
the small business will always see you right!!

Stylish Winter Warmers #Etsy

Can you believe that another month is gone already? Not really sure what to do today so I shall have to have a wander and see what I can find. Hmm, maybe some winter warmers... that`s not a bad idea, I shall go and have a look.
Yep, it`s decided. I popped all my choices into a treasury and that was it done. All together and then transferred to here one at a time.
It`s been so cold here and we`ve even had the odd frost, so winter warmers seemed appropriate today.
Thought I would add a couple of mine for a change too.
Have you been partying for Halloween? It`s quite a big celebratory thing now in Britain as well. I got all my little treats ready for the trick or treaters. My pumpkin went into the window to signal we were taking part and away we went. We had a lot this year, more even than last year, probably because it`s half term for the children here.
By 6.45 p.m I had to take the pumpkin out of the window as we were almost out of goodies and I still had my eldest grandson to visit with his friends.
My daughter, son in law and a friend came with the younger ones and the children had fun answering the door and dishing out treats, while the adults chatted and drank wine.
Well they had to have a treat too.

It was the night of Halloween
and many a scary figure was seen.
I saw many a ghoul and ghost
not sure which scared the most.
There were quite a few witches
some really little titches.
Loads of skeletons showing their bones
have to say there weren`t any moans.
A tiny grim reaper whispered trick or treat
a scythe so big he hardly stayed on his feet.
Many a zombie with blood dripping down
one or two that looked like a clown.
I even saw a scary frankenstein
but that`s okay, he was one of mine.
They all looked great and had such fun
but now Halloween is over and done.
Next it will be firework time
but that will be another rhyme.

Time for Tea #Etsy

Todays blog was a treasury I made for Susan of Dottie Designs, this weeks CraftyFolk winner in the Featured Seller Challenge.
Dottie has many beautiful albums, journals and keepsake boxes in her shop. They make wonderful gifts that are very different, something that we all tend to search for. I know they are wonderful as I have bought them for gifts and they were much admired by the recipients and many others.

Yesterday I was at work but only in the afternoon as I went to a hospital appointment with my hubby. Nothing exciting, just a hearing test. Afterwards he dropped me into the city on his way back to work so I could look for some wool for an order. Well actually I was only going to price it up... but you know me... Yep, I bought it and much more. Ooops. It was gorgeous though, 100% wool so amazingly soft in two gorgeous shades and some lovely cotton in the most beautiful shade of blue. And... some other wool too. I know I shouldn`t and that I`m supposed to be using my stocks bit it was so irrisistable.

For me it`s always tea time
even when I`m writing a rhyme.
Most people love their tea
it`s a british staple you see.
Some like it hot and very strong
too much milk would be wrong.
Others like a gentle brew.
Is that the case for you?
Me I like to drink green
probably the darkest you have seen.
Sometimes I like to mix it up
just to make a different cup.
Tropical green with a little black
gives something green alone does lack.
Sometimes I go for fruity spice
I find that`s rather nice.
Another nice one is tropic moon
and that`s always gone to soon.
Whichever sort that you like best

CraftyFolk Spectacular #Etsy

Well yesterday was the listing club on Folksy and today is the Crafty Folk listing club on Etsy. I decided it would be only fair to do a Spectacular for each.
I shall have a browse through the newest listings and also have a look on my October Crafty Folk Pinterest board to decide what to have on here for today. The only thing I do know is that it will be difficult to choose as there are so many stunning creations.
Well that certainly took a while, far too much choice and far too much lingering over delectable creations. Sigh....
Yesterday I was hoping to get some pics taken but it was too dark and miserable apart from early morning. By mid morning the rain had set in and it was cold too.
I was busy houseworking and had a couple of trips to the shops with the youingest two grandchildren and my son in law. Early afternoon my younger daughter and son in law appeared and visited for a little while.
Really noticed the clock change with it being so dark and grey, seemed to be dark even sooner than it should. That`s it now then.... winter is here. Brrrr.

Clocks changed and look at that sunrise
that really is a big surprise.
First the sky starts to lighten
as the morning starts to brighten.
Then the pinks in great big streaks
feels like I haven`t seen that in weeks.
Bright orange is next, spreading so wide
across the sky, from side to side.
Colour as far as the eye can see
for me the morning has been set free.
Slowly the sun begins to appear
and shine upon a morning so clear.
Tendrils creep across the roof`s like fingers
here and there each stops and lingers.
White frost has landed everywhere
touching down without a care.
The sun makes it sparkle and shine.
I sigh, loving this early world of mine!!
