Monkeying Around #Etsy

This is all from a treasury that I did for the winner of the Crafty Folk competition this week.
It`s a bit of a novelty to actually be making a treasury rather than having them made for me this week. Regular readers know that I was lucky enough to be the Crafty Folk team`s featured seller this week and at last count there were 34 treasuries. I am totally amazed by the amount as well as the ingenuity of the curators.
The winner is Bee of dottybabyboutique and this is what her bio says.
I have always loved to create, sew, knit, crochet and try other crafts.
From a little girl, when I used to make dolls clothes, until I created lovely individual items for my children. The chain stores clothes were so boring, so I made my children's clothes very different and exciting! My beautiful granddaughter Sophie inspired me to start designing again!
I am really enjoying making baby clothes because I can use really beautiful fabrics and create unique items.
Bee also says that she loves to paint with watercolours, acrylics and oils.
Having looked through her shop I just wish I had a baby to buy for. Her designs are gorgeous and clearly made with love. Do have a browse through her shop as well as all the others featured here, they are gorgeous.

Monkeys like hanging around,
occasionally dropping to the ground.
Swinging through the trees at great speed
looking for the something on which to feed.
As they go from tree to tree
I sometimes wonder what they see.
The different jungles are their home
in which they are free to roam.
What happens when the jungles are gone,
will we be left only with the odd one?
Just a few remaining captive in zoos,
it`s enough to give anyone the blues.
For now though they roam free,
always quite a sight to see.
Our little monkeys run around too
sometimes we`d like to put them in the zoo.
Without them though we would be sad
regardless of behaviour and how bad
they behave because they can suddenly turn
say `I love you` and make your eyes burn.
They always give us so much joy
doesn`t matter whether a girl or boy.
They can be monkey`s that`s very true
I wouldn`t be without mine. How about you?

Over the Rainbow #FolksyFriday

I was going to do something else entirely when I had a change of heart and went for rainbows. Couldn`t think why they were in my head when I remembered that my niece made a rainbow picture with needle felting and we used my beautiful glass rainbow, that was a gift, to get the right colours in the right order. Doing that reminded me of my 6 year old grandson needle felting a rainbow as part of a picture the previous week and I was telling my sister about it.
My niece really enjoyed the needle felting as have my grandchildren when they`ve tried it. I really like it too, though I haven`t had a chance to do any more since I made a landscape.
Anyway, that`s why the rainbows were in my head obviously, so I just went with it. Hope you like theses beautiful rainbow coloured crafts as much as I do.
Yesterday was pretty much non stop busy. Rushing around first thing in the morning, doing everything at a run. Then off to collect my grandson for a bus ride to the city. We ended up having a lift into the city as his Dad was off to work and offered to take us, but he didn`t mind. We checked out a few toy shops that he fancied looking in. Then we went to buy the wool I needed. Bet you can guess the rest.... yep, I bought quite a few very large balls of yarn. Ooops. Well in my defence they had some new shades in the marbled yarn I love and how could I resist. I couldn`t and ended up lugging a rather large bag around with us. Hmmm. I did tell myself that I would not be buying any more this winter. Might even stick to it... but then probably not.

Reminds me of the rainbow song.
singing that you can`t go wrong.
Always know the colour order
especially if it`s for a border.
Get it wrong and it`s just not right
still looks pretty but not quite
the way it should really look.
There`s only one way in my book.
A world wiithout rainbows would tragic.
Then where would be all the magic?
Everyone needs a rainbow bright
so they can marvel at the sight.
To see one always makes me smile
sometimes it`s been quite a while.
But then suddenly there it is
and life has much more fizz.
Glowing so bright, way up high
that piece of magic in the sky.
Make a wish when you see one,
be quick cos it`ll soon be gone!!

Michaelmas Purple #Etsy

I thought I would use one of the beautiful treasuries that have been made for me this week as a featured seller on the Crafty Folk team. So far there have been 32 treasuries and each one so different and equally beautiful. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a lovely supportive team and am loving my week in the spotlight.
This treasury is full of my favourite colour, purple, as well as many of my favourite things. Pat of Pat`s Paraphenalia (shop) on Etsy made this treasury and she and I seem to have a lot of in common as we like so many of the same things. At the end I have included two of Pat`s creations as well.

Yesterday I was at work, non stop busy but crocheted at lunchtime and in the evening. I am making a slouchy beret for an order, or at least, for an enquiry. Depends whether or not the customer likes it once it`s made of course.
I now have more items needing to be photographed so I can list them. I love making them but am not so keen on the photography bit. Then of course I have to try editing them so they look halfway decent, not so good at that bit either. It would be ideal if I could just show it to the computer and it magically gave me a set of beautiful pictures. Oh well, I can dream.

Purple is a colour I love,
I`m sure it`s sent here from above.
It has such a special glow
I love the way the shades flow.
The shades complement each other so well,
and with other colours seem to gel.
So many creations in each lovely shade,
the popularity never seems to fade.
From the darkest to the light,
always such a lovely sight.
I could just stare at it for hours,
maybe it has special powers.
Now there`s a new thought,
can this be why it`s bought
so often in many a guise?
Perhaps lovers of purple are wise.
Oh dear, my mind has taken flight,
turned fanciful, what a plight.
This colour has really turned my mind,
beauty always does that I find!!

Get Crafty #Folksy

I thought we`d have a complete change today and have all things crafty. Things that would be great either for yourself or to buy as a gift for a crafty person.
I`ve probably had kits as part of a theme but not just craft things.
Most people do crafts of some sort or they`d like to have a go but don`t where to start. Well kits are a great way to start. They tend to have everything you need for the particular project and it`s a good way of finding out if you like the craft before going mad and buying loads of equipment.
I thought that for those thinking of gifts we would have all types of kits. Craft kits are great for children to have a go at in the holidays, especially in the winter when it`s wet and cold.
Not only that it`s a great way of spending quality time together. Enjoyable, fun and you get something at the end of it. Children often love to make things to give as gifts and the recipient appreciates it that much more because of all the time and effort that has gone into it.My grandson made some earrings at school for Mothers day when he was just 5 years old. We were all very impressed.
Yesterday was a dismal day. It started grey and damp, then went downhill from there. It was quite dark in the middle of the afternoon with very heavy rain and quite chilly too.
In the morning I had visited the supermarket and was really struck by the amount of trees that were already full of leaves on the turn, seems to have happened all of a sudden. Although with the sudden onset of cold it`s not surprising.

It started off damp and grey,
I just hoped it would stay that way.
But no, it wasn`t to be,
the wind started up you see.
It got stronger and blew a gale,
round the house I could hear it wail.
Then the rain began, a little at first,
if only that could be the worst.
The wind grew stronger, blowing all around,
debris began to skitter across the ground.
We were in for a stormy night,
by mid afternoon we`d lost the light.
Children went past like drowned rats,
despite the coats, wellies and hats.
Flood warnings out once again
as we brace for more heavy rain.
Days like this are made for craft,
no, not building an ark or a raft.
Making and creating can be such fun,
with pride in the creation once done!!
