Beautiful Birds #FolksyFriday

We have a Folksy Friday today and the theme is birds, in case you didn`t guess. Not quite sure why I`ve gone for birds but we haven`t had one for a while anyway so it will make a change.
Folksy Friday is something I have often done, a blog that follows a theme with creations from Folksy. There used to be a lot of them each Friday but at the minute there don`t seem to be many. I expect that`s something to do with the summer, holidays from school and people going off on their annual break as well as being outside and making the most of the nicer weather. I am trying to help keep the tradition going, although to be fair I haven`t always done one either.
Anyway, I think I`m waffling.
Yesterday morning I went to work. Unfortunately I woke with an awful headache. The fresh air on the walk to work did help but I didn`t get much done computerwise in the morning. By the afternoon it was easing a bit but still didn`t feel like doing over much on the computer. By the time I had tea it was improving.
The new creation is still coming along nicely at the minute and it shouldn`t be too long before it`s finished. Still trying to get photos I`ve taken edited and just doing a few here and there as I try to get them in draft for listing.

The clouds have all turned pink,
it happened quick as a wink.
The sun is setting in all it`s glory
ready to start a night time story.
Soon it will be time for the moon to rise
it`s beauty always a fresh surprise.
Look around and breathe the air
take some time to stop and stare.
What do you see, good or bad?
Are you happy or are you sad?
Everything is about perception
your world is your conception,
created by you in your mind
not many want to know that I find.
Step out of the rut, go higher
better chance of being a high flyer!!

Mmmm Purple #Etsy

I haven`t had any purple on here for ages.... well it feels like ages anyway. So today I really felt the need for a purple fix. I think those that love purple tend to really love it and feel quite passionate about it. They like seeing it, wearing it and having it in their home in any shade.
I must admit I do like all shades of purple and you`ll be surprised to know that I really love amethysts. Shocking I know.
I also love Lavender oil. I discovered it`s great to send you off to sleep and soothing for a headache. It has lot`s of other uses as well of course. It did go very much out of favour for quite a few years but now with so many people going back to using natural products it is very popular again.
Of course dried lavender is used in scented pillows and cushions, great to pop in drawers or hang up to scent a room.
I bought a lavender tree earlier in the year in the hope of eventually using my own lavender. Funny though how different trees and plants have a slightly different scent to them.
Ooops... I seem to be waffling on. I`m sitting here half asleep and just writing my musings.
Didn`t really acheive much yesterday apart from housework and I did get it all done, which is good. I am still working on my new creation and it has only been undone and restarted once. The first one always takes the longest as I am working it out as I go along. Mmmm... I really ought to start writing it all down, the patterns that is. Although then I would have to count stitches and rows as I go along and would soon get bored with that.

Purple is the breathe of life
and soothes away any strife.
It has a very special glow
a gleam that comes very slow.
An amethyst seems to speak
at first the voice is weak.
It grows in strength as we hear
and becomes what we hold dear.
Purple also has a certain smell,
Lavender that can make you feel well.
Lavender can help you to sleep
a few drops on the pillow will keep
you dreaming till morning appears
and the haze of sleep clears.
A headache can make you frown
lavender will soothe and take it down.
So much that is purple is good
and I think you really should
all just give it a try
then I`ll hear you all cry.
Why didn`t we know this before,
needed that when my head was sore?
You probably all use it already
which is why sales are steady!!

Back to School #Etsy

As there seem to be alot of back to school items about now I thought I would be topical and have a back to school blog. Haven`t done one of these before... at least I don`t think so... anythings possible and there are too many blogs to go back and check.
Anyway I know it`s still school holidays at the minute and you probably don`t want to think of them ending.... or maybe you do and can`t wait. I always loved the school holidays when mine were young. Long days with no routine to stick to, doing what we fancied, later bedtimes, days out... etc etc. I hated the thought of them going back. So if that`s you apologies for the reminder that it`s looming.
Although things are different now with so many Mum`s having to work. I was fortunate to be at home with mine when they were young and only working part time when they were older, so there wasn`t the problem of constantly sorting out sitters or clubs and things.
I was looking after the grandchildren yesterday, well the three boys anyway and we decided to go to the cinema and see Brave. We all really enjoyed it and I loved the message behind it too. Not sure that too many of the children got it though.
Afterwards I was busy doing computer stuff and home stuff, don`t want to mention the dreaded h... word. Why do the days go so fast? I always mean to get so much more done.

Back to school will soon come round,
with running feet hitting the ground.
Some bleary eyed with an early start
and really not wanting to part
with a bed that`s warm and snug
wanting to stay in the sleepy hug.
Others are up with the dawn
bright eyed and scarcely a yawn.
Eager, excited, keen to be gone
loving it all from day one.
Bags filled with many a book
some that will hardly get a look.
Lunchboxes, notebooks and pencil case
all prepared and ready to face
each day ahead filled with learning
with parents waiting and yearning
to see them return happy and tired
or overexcited and still wired.
School days can be filled with fun,
with fond memories when they are done!!

Nature Trail #Etsy

Saw a lovely treasury the other week with nature things on it, can`t quite remember what it was called but I loved it. It came to mind when I was wondering what to put on here for today. I decided it would make a lovely change of pace, sort of a walk in the woods. Now that rings a bell, that could have been the name of it or something similiar. I had favorited a few items from it at the time so have found those and also put nature into the search on Etsy. I hope you like what I have found for you.
I was at work yesterday and busy non stop as always. Didn`t even do any crochet at lunchtime. I did however finish the new style of hat I was working on and made a start on the new idea I had. Will have to wait and see how that pans out, doing well so far.
Weatherwise it got a bit cooler, not terribly noticeably but nightime dropped a few degrees and it was better for sleeping. Always quite useful that I find, being able to sleep, quite a bonus.

Thought we`d have a nature trail
delights like these cannot fail.
Makes me think of a walk in the wood
enjoying nature as we should.
With trees and moss, the odd flower
all a great part of natures power.
In the summer lots of leafy green
a lovely sight to be seen.
Autumn brings the vibrant shades
of fallen leaves, the joy never fades.
The sound as they crunch beneath feet
a pleasure that cannot be beat.
Chestnuts and acorns, a treasure trove
that you would miss if you drove.
You can`t beat the delight of a walk
and with a friend being able to talk.
Simple things that bring pleasure
and leave memories to treasure!!

Sunflowers #Folksy

I almost changed my mind about doing this as a Folksy blog. Mainly because the first three items I chose just wouldn`t appear however many times I tried and despite putting them in different places. By the time I had struggled with them time was passing and I needed to get this blog done. Reluctantly I messaged the sellers to let them know that they wouldn`t be appearing after all which was a real shame as you would have enjoyed seeing those items too.
Still you could always put sunflowers into the search on Folksy and come up with the same things. I reckon you will probably guess which ones I would have added if you are a regular reader.
Anyway I finally got it done and manged to add the pics you see below. Do browse the shops if you get the chance, they are lovely.
Yesterday was another lovely sunny day and I finally managed to get more photographs taken. Then I spent all afternoon editing them, or at least quite a few of them, it will take a lot more hours to get them all done. Still didn`t manage to get them done as draft listings but that will have to wait for another day.
Still haven`t quite finished the the new creation I was working on but it`s close now. I want that one done so I can start on the next new idea I have. Making a few more in different colours will have to wait. I just love the challenge of working out how to make something new.

Pink clouds streak the blue
it`s such a lovely view.
A sunflower nods it`s head,
I think it`s getting ready for bed.
They grow so very tall,
it`s a wonder they don`t fall.
The colour has a wondrous glow
the sunshine makes it so.
They stand so tall and proud
seeming to be so loud.
Happy faces that make you smile
even if only for a while.
A field of sunflowers is quite a sight
giving off a lovely sunshine light.
Even on a very cloudy day
they seem to shout and say
here I am come look at me
I am happy just to be.
They brighten up any room
dispelling any chance of gloom.
Why not have one for yourself?
