October Owls #Handmade #Folksy

October Owls today. As usual there were so many wonderful creations that it was quite a job to pick and choose. Made a little easier by my determination to have as much variety as possible. So many new listings and so many tempting things. I do find myself looking and working out who could have what for Christmas. I have been buying steadily through the summer months and must sort through all my goodies before I buy more. I don`t want to end up with three pressies for one person and none for someone else. I confess that I have done that before in previous years. I used to see things in the city and buy for different people, then get home and tuck them away. several trips later I would have loads of things for the ladies and none for the guys. Ooooops!
Had to go into the city yesterday, a last minute present for a party I had forgotten about. Well I hadn`t forgotten the party, I thought I had another couple of weeks to go. Very annoying as I prefer to get my gifts from the handmade sector now.
I needed to buy yarn to finish off a pair of mittens and sort of accidentally bought two more lots. The gorgeous deep red shaded yarn and a turquoise, oh dear, there is no hope for me. I should be using my stocks not getting more.
Picked my 3rd grandson up from school and as my hubby likes to leave so early, I got half an hours crochet done in the car, while we waited and more done last night, the new all in one is almost done. Then it will be finishing the mittens.

Yesterday the sun shone bright,
it was such a lovely sight.
But there was really quite a chill
that certainly didn`t a thrill.
It was such a very busy day
because at the start I lost my way.
Got up late still too tired,
went to bed far too wired.
Then a headache slowed me down
certainly gave me a frown.
Fresh air helped it to recede
from the pain I was nearly freed.
I just wanted to sit and dream
but the whole day did seem
to rush along helter skelter
in a very mad welter
of busyness and things to do
no time to sit and enjoy the view.
Never mind, such is life
all part of being a mother and wife.
I much prefer to be busy
it keeps my life a bit fizzy!!

Penguins #FolksyFriday

I decided to have penguins as my theme today for this Folksy Friday because I haven`t had them on here before. I`m not quite sure why as they are so cute. We have a few on Folksy but not as many as I thought there would be. I did begin to wonder if I would find enough variety in the crafts featuring them but thankfully I did. I think most people see them as very cute, especially as they were portrayed in that film a few years ago. Can`t think of the name of it at the minute which is really annoying. I saw it at the cinema and afterwards with the grandchildren a few times too, so I should know it.
I do love childrens films, they always have such a great feel good factor and usually a message behind them too. Looking forward to half term and the chance to take the children to the cinema again.
The grandchildren came for tea yesterday, so I made a fish pie, with haddock, salmon, tuna and king prawns. I don`t usually put fresh tuna in, well frozen actually, but I didn`t have any cod. I usually use smaller prawns but didn`t have any although they preferred the larger ones anyway. All done in a hollandaise sauce and topped with mash potato. That way I could make it earlier and spend the time with them whiel it does it`s own thing in the oven.
I also added a few things to my website and working my way through removing the P&P on everything. I`ve done two sections so far. It is time consuming but I think it will be better.
I haven`t got on as fast with my new hat/scarf combi as I wasn`t happy with it and took it all out before starting again. I did a little yesterday morning and more last night. I have some mittens half done but need to get some more yarn for those as they are still thumbless.
That`s enough waffle methinks. I am making an effort to not run on too much as I could fill the page so easily with aimless ramblings. Ooops there I go again.

It`s Folksy Friday time agin`
so today we have a penguin.
Well actually we have quite a few
we`re having quite a penguin do.
Is a lot called a flock,
when we see them in a block?
Maybe they could be a swarm,
cos they don`t like the warm.
They much prefer an icy chill
I think it gives them a thrill.
They look so cute in a huddle
having one great big cuddle.
Babies are all cute and furry
their outline kind of blurry.
Adults smart in black and white
altogether a wonderful sight.
They all look so sweet
but would we want to meet,
a real one in the snow?
I really don`t know!!

Red Passion #Handmade #Folksy

After going on the forums and clicking through the lovely listings for the October Owls I was looking through the other threads and saw one for Red. It all looked so cheerful and bright that I decided to show Red creations on here today. With the weather so dull and gloomy I think we all need cheering up and red is just the colour to do that.
Well yesterday I was at work, I managed some crochet before I went, a new hat I started the night before and finished last night. At lunchtime I made the flower for another hat I had finished and sewed it on, so that was a good job done. I then made a start on another Hat and Scarf combi in a beautiful vivid mix yarn which I think will look fabulous when it is done and I continued to work on it after finishing the hat last night.
There are so many ideas buzzing in my head for new creations that I can`t get them done fast enough.
This morning I listed in draft some mittens that I crocheted, I was surprised that I managed to squeeze that in but it`s amazing how much you can get done when you want to.

It`s been so dull and dreary
that it makes me feel so weary.
We need some red passion
after all it`s a festive fashion.
Red can brighten up the day,
I think so. What do you say?
Red brings some festive cheer
and so the way is clear.
Bring on the colour, let it out.
Great news, do I hear you shout?
As a colour it is bright and warm
So maybe you will all swarm
to see what you can find
now that you have a mind
to look for anything red.
I hope that I have fed
a need for something bright,
cos it`s such a lovely sight.
