Summery Greens #Etsy

Just want to say first.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my youngest daughter, hope you have a wonderful day.
She probably won`t see it but just in case she does.
With a few more degrees on the thermometer yesterday and a few more today, fingers crossed, summer could be more than a dream one day. Hasn`t made double figures yet but there is finally hope on the horizon.
This was a treaury I made for a team challenge for the On Fire for Handmade Team on Etsy. It was a green theme in case you couldn`t tell. In view of the maybe impending spring weather I thought I would take it a step further and have summery greens.
Yesterday did start rather grey and dismal with the ever present strong wind, but as the day went on it improved dramatically with the wind calming and the sun making an appearance.
I took my youngest two grandchildren into the city, on the bus of course and we had a wander around the toy shops. When they had had enough of that we went to have some lunch in the youngest`s favourite venue, Greggs. We wandered a bit further after that but then they decided they wanted to return home so by early afternoon we headed back.
We played outside for a while with a sword full of bubble liquid, taking it in turns to make the bubbles appear. They liked chasing after them more and had fun.

This poem I wrote sitting in the doctors waiting room the other day.
At the doctors a near empty room
filled with an over powering gloom.
Seven people in here, that`s all,
Yet I hear, `no appointments` at every call.
A few in here coughing and hacking.
Appointment time keeping sadly lacking.
My appointment time comes and goes
as desultory conversation flows
along and around in fits and starts
while the door closes and parts,
letting in yet another icy blast
when someone just walks past.
I sit here quietly writing a rhyme
it all helps to pass the time.
No point at all in getting irate
no one`s fault it`s running late.
Acceptance I think is the key
I find it works well for me!!

Relax #FolksyFriday

I was looking for inspiration on Folksy and wandered to the forums to cast an eye over the new listings. A few ideas sprung to mind and then I saw a word. Relax! That was it then. I thought it would be a good theme with the country still in winters grip. We all tend to tense up against the cold so relaxing is just what we need to do.
People are all different, we tend to be a very diverse collection and what one person finds relaxing another doesn`t. Personally I find candles relaxing, soft light and a flickering flame, great for meditation. A cup of tea or hot chocolate can be relaxing after a hard day or a shock. Or just sitting in a comfortable chair with a warm wheat bag round your neck to relax tense neck and shoulders muscles.
There are so many ways to relax that I could be waffling on here forever, so I`ll stop now. Do I hear a sigh of relief?
I`ve been working on a new pattern for fingerless gloves. These are more for ladies with ruffles at the wrist and scalloped edges at fingers and thumb. The aim of these patterns are so people like me, who are self taught and find most patterns are double dutch, can actually follow them easily. They are written in plain language and include clear pictures to make it easier to follow.

Yesterday started cloudy and cold.
I prefer to see the suns rays of gold.
I hung out the washing really fast
for my troubles I got an icy blast.
A bit later I looked up with a frown
a whirl of snow was coming down.
Mother nature please get it together,
we`re all so tired of this weird weather.
The first day of spring has come and gone.
And mild spring days? Not a single one.
New shoots push up through the ground
and then the snow falls all around.
They all then turn brown and wither
just because Nature`s in a dither.
Come on Spring, show your face
Time to pick up the seasonal pace!!

Getting Fruity #Etsy

This was a treasury for the CraftyFolk Shop of the Week winner Liz from MADMUM KNITS.
I decided to do fruits after a look through her shop and seeing the pineapple tea cosy which is gorgeous. All of Liz`s patterns and knits are obviously made to a high standard and wonderful.
Her shop bio says:
Welcome to my shop.
I am a mum of 3 and now grandma to 5 lovely and lively grandchildren.
I have suffered from M.E for 25 years, at my worst was bedbound and used a wheelchair for 5 years. I had to change my lifestyle from very active to sedentary so turned to crafting.
Madmum designs happened about 7 years ago. After a mental breakdown a friend suggested I try designing. I used this as therapy and now it keeps me sane. After selling on another site I was introduced to Etsy and so madmumknits was born. The madmum name comes from my son in laws who affectionatley call me mad mother.
If there is anything you would like knitted please convo me with your requirements.

Lot`s of fruits here today,
makes me think of sun and play.
Sun warmed fruits off a tree
I love to eat them you see.
Summer fruits in a dish
that`s a dream, a hopeful wish.
An amazing pineapple tea cosy
should make your tea table look rosy.
The sight of fruit fills me with hope
even if that fruit is soap.
A tangy orange like a setting sun
going down when the day is done.
Scented apples to make things smell nice
they`ll help to keep away the mice.
All sorts of fruity lip balm
gorgeous scents to keep you calm
or maybe to give you some zing,
in that case they`ll be just the thing.
My brains gone numb, this rhyme in done
so frolic in the fruit and have fun!!

Wedding Ideas #Folksy

It`s a while since I have done a wedding blog so I thought I might just show some weddingy creations today. Not sure if that`s a real word or not.... probably not but I like it anyway, so it stays.
So.... Weddings! They are popular, can cost a fortune or not and they happen all year round. Seems to me that they have become big business.
I think sometimes amidst all the preparations it can be very easy to lose sight of the reason for the wedding. That it is, of course, a marriage of two people who want to spend their lives together. It is a public commitment in front of family and friends.
Nowadays there are all sorts of weddings, traditional, modern, steampunk, gothic and so many more, it`s all down to individual taste.
There are so many beautiful little touches available to help make the day extra special if that`s what you want and they needn`t cost a fortune. It`s always best to look about everywhere to see what is available for ideas and price.
Blogging as I do each day I see so many different things and have come to realise that a lower price doesn`t mean lower quality, so it is worth looking around.
