Kids Stuff #FolksyFriday

IT`S FRIDAY!! The weekend is calling for many of you. The schools are already finished or finishing today with lot`s of excitement at the thought of the holidays stretching out ahead.
It looks as though the weather could be improving just at the right time which is great all round.
Anyway as there are now several weeks in which children need to be entertained and kept busy I thought I would do a Kids Stuff blog. Craft kits and colouring books, crayons, sewing kits etc. There are of course many more available on Folksy just put what you want into the search and hey presto, up they will all come.
Even if the weather is nice there are times they don`t want to be outside or they feel a bit under the weather, in which case it`s handy to have a few standbys, just in case.
Mmmm.. yesterday... Just for a change it rained most of the day. I had to go into the city to get my glasses fixed, one of the nose thingies fell off. Not terribly impressed as I have only had them just over three months and they cost an arm and a leg. I did point that out when I took them in. The young chap said it does happen as they are moveable ones rather than fixed but he could change them if I liked. I said no they could just be fixed and they were done quite quickly with apologies, so that was a good job done.
I very heroically resisted the urge to buy more yarn, but it was a close thing.
This blog will be here for Friday and Saturday as I shall be rather busy. There will be a new one on Sunday.

Now the school year is done
it`s time for some summer fun.
Time to get up late, have a lie in,
resting and relaxing isn`t a sin.
Routine can go out the window
as you get into the holiday flow.
Long and lazy days
that pass by in a haze
of children feeling fizzy
that you try to keep busy.
If they are busy you can relax
enjoying the time to the max.
There`ll be picnics in the park
that will be quite a lark.
A lovely trip down to the sea
will have them shouting with glee.
Jetting off on holiday
lots of time for fun and play.
Enjoy the time, cos it`s a boon
that will be over far too soon.
This time will never come again
remember that when they drive you insane.
Each day will be a memory to treasure
when you are older and have more leisure!!

Summer Greens #Etsy

Going topical today. It`s Summer because it`s supposed to be right now and green because due to all the excessive rain everywhere is very green.
I had a look around but ended up using all the creations from the Crafty Folk team. I was going to include a few team members but kept finding so many lovely things that I kept on adding until I realised I was done and hadn`t wandered further a field.
For those that don`t know, the Crafty Folk are a team I belong to on Etsy and they have a daily listing club that I take part in.
I have included a couple of my creations as well today for a change. I don`t usually I know, but I have thrown caution to the wind and done it anyway.
Yesterday I was at work and it was all pretty manic. The day went quickly but my feet were protesting long before the day was over. I did though manage to make a good start on a scarf, in my lunch hour, after finishing a pair of gloves. Then got more done in the evening. Yet more to add to the evergrowing pile.
At this rate you`ll be thinking I`m making all this up, these creations of mine. But I promise that they will eventually get listed and you will see them all.

We did consider the rain a boon
and now the sight makes us swoon.
Cries of `No, please not again`
accompany each fresh bout of rain.
It pours down in heavy showers
crushing and breaking the flowers.
The weeds they grow like crazy
in a world so often hazy.
Sheets of rain blot out the view
making us all feel very blue.
Endless skies in shades of grey
greet us each and every day.
A hint of blue sometimes appears
helping to allay our fears,
that summer will never get here
and the rain will never clear.
There is a silver lining in this cloud
despite our having a watery shroud,
everywhere is so very green,
it`s looks the best it`s ever been.
So look for the good and you will find
that maybe it`s not such a bind!!

Red Passion #Etsy

This is for the Crafty Folk team featured seller of the week. I`ve been doing these for the last few weeks as a bit of a change. You get to see a lovely variety of crafts as well as a closer look at a seller.
This was done first as a treasury for SHEENA of ONE OFF CREATIONS - www.etsy.com/shop/oneoffcreations then put on here for a wider audience.
For those that don`t know, each week a shop is selected by number from all the treasuries done for the previous weeks featured seller. Everyone who takes part has the chance to be selected. It`s very helpful for the shop concerned as it helps to raise their profile and hopefully sales too.
Sheena`s bio says she is a classical musician and started making jewellery three years ago as she couldn`t afford the sort of jewellery she loved. It grew from there as friends started to order pieces and now she is delighted to be selling online. Sheena loves colour and uses the best quality materials and gemstones she can find.

As you know I was away for the weekend visiting family and had a wonderful time catching up with everybody. The only trouble with having such a great time is that ot all went way too fast. On the plus side I made and finished 10 new pieces as well as half a hat. Not bad at all for a weekends work.

Baby & Nursery #Etsy

This blog is from a treasury I did for Emma of MrsJonesJewel, this weeks winner in the Crafty Folk treasury competition.
For those who don`t know, this is a weekly competition, open to all Crafty Folk team members. Each week we all make treasuries around an item chosen by the winner, from their own shop. The competition lasts a week and at the end of that time the shop owner then has the difficult task of choosing the winner. Once chosen, that person is the focus of the next weeks competition. It`s fun to take part and the shop in question gets lots of extra exposure and hopefully, sales.
Emma`s bio says that she discovered a love of sewing and jewellery making as an escape from two boisterous sons and a job in local government. She clearly enjoys her escapism and it shows in her creations.
The first two items are not part of the general theme as you will see. These two are items from Emma`s shop to give you an idea of what else she creates.

This blog will be here Sunday and Monday as I am away over the weekend and normal daily service will resume on Tuesday.
By the time I return on Monday afternoon I should have another pile of new creations to add to the ever growing pile awaiting a photography session.
I think the minute we get a bright day I will have to spend the whole time taking pictures. The only trouble is if that nice day is when I`m at work or babysitting. Or, come to that, away. Oh dear.

While I`m away my fingers will be flying
every now and then I will be sighing
as briefly for a moment, I pause
and take a little break because
my fingers will ache and be sore
as I crochet and make so many more
delectable creations just for you
so that you can come and view.
I will be doing lot`s of talking
and helping with some dog walking.
The chance for some fresh air,
walking and talking without a care.
Family are people to treasure
my love for them beyond measure.
I like to take the time
seeing them all is sublime.
Every four weeks isn`t much
but it helps me stay in touch.
I`ll be all talked out when I return
and I`ll have fingers that burn.
But I`ll be relaxed and rested
once more ready to be tested
by the rigours of business online
and hoping listing goes just fine!!
