Circles & Spirals #FolksyFriday

Friday again already and it seems that summer is finally here. Fingers crossed that it`s here to stay for a while.
For regular readers you know that I have done a blog about circles, not the same as this I hasten to add. Circles and connections are still on my mind, more so at the minute with the advent of a friendship cake.
The cake is called Herman and is a German friendship cake. I was given a bowl of the mix and a list of instructions that take 10 days to fulfil. At the end of this time after stirring some days and feeding on others the remaining mix is divided into 4 equal parts. Three of these are to give away to friends or family and the fourth is kept, ingredients added and baked.
I was thinking about this ongoing circle as I was mixing ingredients into my remaining portion. I realised I could have just made the cake with the portion I was given at the start, but that of course would have defeated the object of the whole exercise. It is more than just a cake it is an ongoing and ever widening circle of people that are connected by this cake.
Quite extraordinary when you think about it.
Some people have never heard of it and others have long since taken part, occasionally getting some back, to begin the process all over again.
It was this process that made me decide to have circles on here today and include spirals. Mainly because in it`s way the cake is a spiral too. It must have started, at one time, with one person, then spiralled outwards growing bigger and bigger.
Quite a testament to the power of love and friendship.
Yesterday I was out and about with my youngest grandson and later visited a sister in law to give a portion of the cake mix to. She thought it was a lovely idea as did my daughter and grandaughter I gave the other two portions to. Later in the day I mixed and made the remaining portion into my cake all the while thinking of that growing circle.
That also made me think of the circle of the seasons with it being a lovely day. Just so many spirals and circles in our lives.

ENJOY!!!

Spirals start small, ever growing
as nature intended outwardly flowing.
Circles are closed like a wheel
that ongoing line having a seal.
A family circle is not quite right
it`s a spiral that grows out of sight.
It starts out small, just a few
then more are added until there`s a crew.
It splits and divides, new circles are made
but the ongoing love just never fades.
A circle steadfast against the world
a spiral that is a great love unfurled.
Each small circle is surrounded,
by a larger that keeps us grounded.
A friendship circle is just as strong
that spiral too just as long.
It`s all about lot`s of fun
but when those parts are done
there`s always someone at your back
so that support you never lack.
That`s what a family circle should be,
at least, that`s what it means to me!

Team Crafts #Etsy

Was heading for a theme like yesterday bit it didn`t go anywhere and I decided to add crafts that caught my eye instead.
I hope you enjoy the variety and take a little time to have a wander through the shops to enjoy more of their creations.
Today I will be returning from my weekend away. I shall be all talked out... maybe. Yes I know that it`s unlikely but there`s always a first time for everything. I shall certainly have enjoyed the relaxation of being away from the computer and should be returning with new creations I have made while away. Woo Hoo!!
After a weekend off I shall be ready to get back into it all with renewed enthusiasm.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

The other night I saw the night sky
countless stars twinkling up on high.
A group of three shining bright
as I admired the glorious sight.
Then one began to move away
I watched it move, as clear as day.
Shining as bright as a star
it moved so fast and far.
A plane maybe, could it be?
Not as far as I could see.
Hubby said it must be so
but no plane gives off that glow.
No red flashing light
to give a hint in the night.
It vanished after a little while
our speculation making us smile.
I`m sure there`s a normal explanation
but I`ll stick with my speculation.
Unknown Flying Object in the sky
someone somewhere knows How and Why!!

Crafty Folk Delights #Etsy

This started as a Fathers day gift ideas blog and I started off very well with the fabulous pen you see as the first picture.
I have bought one of these pens myself as a gift and it almost didn`t make it as a present. For a start it was fabulous to look at, it was purple... mmmmm. Secondly it was lovely to hold and use and of course it is refillable. My daughter who it was for, loved it, unfortunately. Otherwise I could have claimed it back. I have also bought other gifts from this shop and been delighted with all of them.
Oh dear, I think I got off the subject. Ooops.
Anyway, as I was saying. I decided the theme, looked on the Crafty Folk new listings thread added the pen and that was it. There were so many more that just begged to be included that forgetting all about the theme I just added merrily.
I think you`ll agree though that they are all fabulous. Do go and have a look through the shops to discover even more treasures.
If you`ve seen this blog over the last few days then you will know that I am away visiting family this weekend, so there won`t be alot of extra waffle. Although scrolling back for a mo I don`t think that`s entirely true.
Oh well.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Drops running down the window pane,
yes we have rain again.
All the clouds rush and hurry
colours mixing, in a flurry.
A hint of light, no it`s gone.
I`m sure I`m not the only one
who would love to see a little sun
just a little, before the day is done.
I`m tired of squelching muddy ground
of great big puddles all around.
Come on Mother Nature give us a break,
show us the sun, for goodness sake!!

Mother Nature heard the call
and brought sun for us all.
Small doses it is true
but still sun for me and you.
For two whole days it was dry.
For 48 hours the sky didn`t cry.
At last we thought, Summer`s here.
No it`s NOT, was soon made clear!
