Celtic or Knot? #Etsy

Today`s blog is from a treasury I did for the CraftyFolk Shop Promo Challenge. The winner of this weeks challenge was James from JPW Phoptography.
He selected the photograph you see in the first picture for us all to build treasuries around. Quite a challenge.
James bio says:
My photographs are generally taken from the 'canvas' that is continuously around us all. I just love the atmosphere, textures and colours of the world and in particular, Scotland! The air is so clean and fresh it's a joy to to take photographs there and I hope you see I try to capture these attributes. Images are from various travels so even if you've never been to these locations you can still cherish owning part of the feeling. I enjoy capturing the one moment, to hold on to forever.
The prints are on premium photographic paper and are suitable for framing. Most of my Photographs are available in either Matt or Gloss, in sizes from 6x4.5, to 30x20. Some are available as matt posters up to 45x30.
My handmade, keepsake greeting cards are 8x6, high quality, each with original photograph, supplied with an envelope and packed in a clear cello bag to protect the contents.
Details of the scene are on the back and Signed

I think it`s great to be able to have a little insight into the person behind the shop and to know what inspires their craft.
Do have a browse through James` shop and take a look at his stunning collection. Have a browse too through any or all of these wonderful shops displayed if you get the chance.
The verse is my musings while trying to think what theme to have.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

What should I go for with this one?
An idea comes then it`s gone.
The problem is to knot or knot
what ideas have I got.
I could go for silver or grey
or have I done those another day?
I could always go for cable
but no that`s just a fable.
It`s already been done you know,
I`ll wait for an idea to grow.
Brain is not working well
lack of sleep, I can tell.
I`ll give it a little while
till something comes to make me smile.
Then it finally came to me
the brain worked at last you see.
So many knots, Celtic and more
so finally I had a title for
this treasury of mine
I hoped would be very fine.
Celtic or Knot. What do you think?
I can almost see that nod and a wink!!

Festive Holly #FolksyFriday

I kind of half decided this theme earlier in the week when I did a Holly & Ivy blog. I liked what I found on that site and thought I would see what I could find on Folksy. As you can see there were some fabulous finds and of course many more than I could fit in here.
Holly, especially with it`s distinctive red berries always makes me feel so festive. Somehow it gives everywhere a festive look. Of course that could just be me and you all think I`m raving mad. I`m really not.... just a bit eccentric.... sometimes.
Anyway, I`m waffling, so back on track. We have all sorts of delectable delights for your person or home or to give as holiday gifts. See how I think of you all? Always trying to make life easier and simpler for you. Hmm... maybe I should have a medal, preferably white chocolate or dark chocolate, mmmm.
Now what did I do yesterday? A hospital appointment with hubby, a trip to the supermarket and computer work. I also saw the youngest two grandchildren as they popped in on their way home from school. That was nice. The 6 year old always runs ahead so my daughter calls me and I nip over the road to meet him on the corner. He flies along and leaps into my arms and I swing him around before we cross over and he runs indoors to raid the cupboard. When my daughter arrives with the little one he is already tucking into jelly, followed by a smoothie and then fruit flakes. The little one has a smoothie and a fruit bar, it`s all he wants. Then they are off again, bless them.
It certainly livened me up a bit as I had felt like I was moving through a fog all day due to a couple of restless nights.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Holly brings a festive feeling
when it`s hanging from the ceiling.
Then it brings even more
when it`s decorating the door.
A wreath always looks so fine,
so many I`d like to make mine.
See the Christmas spirit flowing
and the happy faces glowing.
Not THAT sort of spirit you know,
it`s happiness, that sets faces a glow,
Always so much laughter and delight
at every colourful christmas sight.
Pretty colours that sparkle and shine
always looking so very fine.
Twinkling and sparkling fairy lights
that brighten up the darkest nights.
Homes decorated, so bright and pretty
most folks happy and feeling witty.
Me I love the excitement and fun,
am always sad when it`s over and done.

Blue Christmas #Etsy

This blog is for Alice of `The Yarn Owl`s Nest` the Craftyfolk team`s featured shop for this week. For those who don`t know, this challenge runs from Sunday to Sunday. The challenge is for the rest of us to choose an item from her shop and build a treasury around it.
These are all items I chose for my treasury.
Alice`s bio says:
`Hiya, thank you for visiting my shop. I am a full time Mum to two children, a son and a daughter. Before having my children I was a primary teacher and later a library assistant but gave up work to stay at home with my children.
I was taught to knit as a young girl by my lovely Gran but stopped knitting for years until having my own children rekindled my interest and both my babies were usually wearing something I had knitted them. I also started knitting gifts for other friends babies and children.
I learnt to crochet a few years ago after seeing some lovely crocheted items on line and in books and deciding I really "needed" them!!! I enjoy working with natural materials and like playing with colours. I love hand dyed yarns, stripes, bright colours and quirkiness.`
Do have browse around this lovely shop and all the others featured here if you get the chance. You never know what you might find.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

The stunning blue of a sapphire
really has a special fire.
The palest of blue is like ice
and I think it is rather nice.
The velvet navy of a night sky
with stars twinkling up on high.
The changing colour of the sea
so many shades as it roams free.
A vivid sky in the summer sun
as many play and have fun.
That bright blue of a baby`s eyes
produces so very many sighs.
Every where so much blue
just what are we to do?
Blue is very calming and healing
helps you feel better when you`re feeling
angry, low or in pain
brings you back up again.
So have lot`s of blue in your life
so you feel better in times of strife.
Use it as a healing balm
because it will bring calm!!

Festive Fun #Etsy

As usual when I started I had not even the vaguest idea of what to put on here today. Then I saw a few things that started me off feeling festive and off I went in search of more.
There are so many to choose from that it took a while and I didn`t want gift ideas so much as things that were overtly festive to start everyone off feeling Christmassy.
If this doesn`t start a bit of festive excitement for you then I don`t know what will. I have to say that seeing it all made me feel festive and realise just how close it really is. Eeeek!
I do think that it really is time to get cracking on Christmas now, especially if you haven`t made a start yet.
Yesterday started off as a nice day... well rather cloudy as it started to get light, so I didn`t think I`d see much of a sunrise. To my surprise it really was quite spectacular and looking so red should have warned me about the way the day would turn out. Yes, you`ve guessed. After a morning of sunshine it turned grey and dark and rained. Not good.
Two trips to the post office, morning and afternoon, a bit of food shopping and the rest of the time sorting listings, shops and photos. Very time consuming but necessary. More to be done today as well.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

It`s jingle bells all the way,
I`m feeling very festive today.
Holly and ivy are just the thing
to make me want to sing.
Just seeing lot`s of gold
makes me feel Christmas bold.
Red is warm cheery and bright
and mixed with gold a pretty sight.
Green makes us think of holly and pine
and there we have another sign,
that Christmas is getting very near.
Spending time with those we hold dear
is all part of the festive season
as if we really need a reason.
Holly with red berries and mistletoe
all help to make a home look just so.
Decorations and a tree with lights
all make for cosy winter nights.
Carol singers stand around
feet icy on the cold ground.
All of this and so much more
is what we wait all year for!
