New Years Eve #Handmade #Folksy

Can you feel the hint of excitement in the air? Are you like me looking forward to the New Year ahead? Tonight is the time for fun and looking forward to seeing the New Year in with friends or family or both. I hope you all have a good time wherever you are and that there is much laughter, pleasure and delight in the company you are with, whether it`s many or very few.
Must admit I always decide to try and be a better person, never very sure how well I do, but I am sure that there is always room for more improvement so I continue to keep trying.
I just love New Year with the thought of all the possibilities ahead. It`s like a new canvas and the picture you make can be anything you like or want, it`s entirely up to you.
Thinking you`d like to make changes in your life? Finding it a daunting task and to big an effort? Then just take baby steps, that`s all it takes. If someone had told me two years ago that I would be doing all of this, I wouldn`t have believed them or believed it was possible. But one step at a time I have done it. I still have much to learn but I am slowly and surely getting there. Amazing!
Todays crafts are choices I made while looking through selections under various headings on the home page. I had wandered for a while, through the forums, checking out various threads seeking inspiration, without any luck. But I am delighted with this variety of crafts that I chose and hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
Didn`t do anything exciting yesterday. Just parcelled up some items to send then walked to the post office. On the way home I collected my eldest grandson to come and be my ironing fairy. He did an excellent job after which I could no longer put off a trip to the supermarket. Bleurgh!!!!! Can you believe how busy it was? Cars everywhere queueing up to get in as well as out. Luckily inside wasn`t so bad, I think we caught it between waves of shoppers. Straight on to till and out after whizzing round at breakneck speed. Yahoo!!
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Do you call it Old Years Night
looking back at last years plight?
Or do you call it New Years Eve
with a hint of magic up your sleeve?
Are you looking forward or back
thinking positive or of lack?
A New Year holds a promise of things to come
as we consider what`s gone and sum
up events and put them in their place
and fix a smile upon our face.
Learn from the events of the past
and then finally at last
put them all right away
because soon it`ll be New Years Day.
Don`t make resolutions you can`t keep
in time they`ll only make you weep
and then you`ll feel like a failure
as though you just have to endure.
Resolve to have no resolutions
instead start a revolution.
Be positve each and every day
and your life will improve in every way!

Penguins #FolksyFriday

Thought about doing hedgehogs today but couldn`t find enough, so I put penguins into the search and came up with lot`s of great penguins. They looked so cute that I couldn`t resist and decided that my Folksy Friday would be penguins. Yay!!
Who would believe there could be so many? Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Yesterday was a very successful day although wasn`t sure how it would go at the start. First was getting hubby into the city for longer than 5 minutes to find a suit for our daughters wedding in Februaury. At 9.10 a.m he was saying if we hurry up we could be home by 9.30. Oh dear, that didn`t bode well.
We got into the city quite quickly and into the car park easily, very little traffic about, which was very good. Then we had a look in the first men`s outfitters we saw and BINGO he saw two he liked. He tried on the first but I wasn`t keen, thought it looked too pale. The second one was perfect. Fitted exactly right and looked great. Then he wandered around and found a lovely tie and that was it he was all set. A huge sigh of relief from me. That was him done and off he went home.
I went off to the bank to sort out fraudulent use of one of my cards. That was soon sorted as they had refused most of them as being unusual usage. Easy peasy.
Then I met my younger daughter and we were on a mission to get my outfit. Into Debenhams, up to their Designer floor. Sales everywhere, brilliant. We walked the entire floor picking up everything I liked as we went and then arrived at the changing room. Bad news there.... a longish queue. Hadn`t been there many minutes when a helpful lady came along and said she had one room for use so we followed her quickly. Now that was more like it.
We had followed the personal shopper and were led into a great sitting room with comfy chairs and a changing cubicle too. They coudn`t have been more helpful and it turned shopping into a great experience. I ended up with three dresses, one of which was for the wedding with a matching handbag. Then it was onto the shoes. Again so easy, my daughter spotted them, I tried them on, a perfect fit and comfortable and an excellent match. We were on a roll. Nearby was a selection of fascinators, again found a perfect colour match and it looked great. That was me done. I was over the moon.
My daughter found some bridesmaids dresses and lovely jewellery for them and a pair of work shoes too.
Then it was coffee and home. A very successful day with both of us happy.
Ooops, didn`t mean to waffle that much, but never mind.

ENJOY!!!

Penguins are so very cute
and look lovable, to boot.
I found alot, to my great delight
and I think they look a wonderful sight.
Some cute, some funny, others majestic
but they all look fantastic.
A bag that`s a great tote,
that certainly has my vote.
A beautiful woven rug
that looks wonderfully snug.
Art and a card or two
designed especially for you.
Stained glass for your window,
now I`m getting into the flow.
Cake topper, pattern and a bookmark,
oh, this is quite a lark.
Earrings and a pretty bangle,
penguins from a different angle.
An apron, a cushion, one of stone,
such variety, you can`t moan.
Then there`s painted nails and more,
we have for you penguins galore!

Owls #Handmade #Folksy

Saw quite a few owl designs on various crafts and decided to show some on here as I hadn`t put any on here for a while.
Most people seem to be drawn to owls and in the last several months I have noticed lots of owl items appearing, whether it`s fabric, cards, art, knitted, crochet or ceramic. I have probably left out loads of the different mediums they appear in, but you get the picture.
I wonder if it`s because owls are supposed to be wise or just that they look cute that their popularity has soared lately. I always like them because they look cute.
I think I have managed a good variety of crafts to have a wide appeal. If you have some spare time do pop along to the shops for a browse as you never know what you`ll find that could make an ideal gift for someone. Or better still, something special as a treat for yourself. Go on... you know it makes sense.
Yesterday my hubby wanted to look at suits, for our daughters wedding in February, so we went to a few shops but he didn`t see anything. Today we will venture into the city and see what we can find. Not looking forward to that as he hates the city and shopping in general really. Should be fun....hmmm. Although I can start looking for my outfit then too. Yay!!
Yesterday I took two of our grandsons to the cinema and they were here with us for a while first as my two daughters and granddaughter were going shopping for bridesmaids dresses. It`s the younger daughters wedding and the older daughter and granddaughter are being bridesmaids as well as a friend of the happy couple who now lives in China. As the friend introduced them they wanted her to be a part of their big day. I would say that she probably has the furthest to come.

ENJOY!!!

The warmth of the sun on my back,
this is something that I lack.
I need the warmth of summer sun
and yet winter is not yet done.
We have yet to endure the worst
and it won`t be the first
time we`ve endured the cold
bringing all into the fold.
True British spirit comes to the fore
as we help loved ones and more.
All of those in need
we assist with word and deed.
Community spirit is not dead,
it`s starting to revive instead.
A big change is spreading across the land
as many people begin to stand
up for themselves and what they believe in
though they don`t need to make a din.
Making a difference in their quiet way,
these heroes will win the day!
