Feb Craftyfolk #Etsy

I decided that I might as well get ahead of myself for the month and do the daily listing clubs early, then maybe it will remind me to show you more of their crafts during the month too. Especially as last month they were almost non existent on here. OOps.
Really must try harder. Not being a good team mate if I don`t make the effort. It is nice to see each days new listings even if it is tempting.
Yesterday I had a pretty good day all in all. I spent over 5 hours needle felting a picture for a needle case and a smaller pincushion size picture. They do take a long time as I build them up in layers and like each layer to be thoroughly needled to the felt before moving on to the next. I love to see the picture emerging from the layers of merino wool in all the different shades. When I do the sky I use a variety of colours to get a better effect. This one was an underwater one with beautiful blues. green seaweed and brightly coloured fish.
I have to confess that the smaller picture didn`t get finished entirely as my daughter turned up with the youngest two grandchildren and a friend of the 6 year old. It was a very welcome distraction by that time I have to admit. I hadn`t realised how long I had been concentrating for, hunched over my work. I also realised at that point, how chilly it had become.
It was really lovely to see their bright, happy little faces.

ENJOY!!!

Hunched over and working away
it took up most of my day.
Building a picture, bit by bit
concentrating hard as I sit
at the table surrounded by gear
hubby`s face was a picture, oh dear.
Mountains of colour all around
even some fallen to the ground.
Quite a bit stuck to my sleeve
hubby seemed in a hurry to leave.
Oblivious to all, my tea went cold
by the time I remembered it was old.
But the picture was quite a sight
with lot`s of colour and light.
So soft the pure merino wool
that covers thickly till it is full.
Then still more on top of that
when done, the back is a furry mat.
My shoulders ached when I was done
but all in all it was a day of fun!!

Jan Jollies #FolksyFriday

I realised the other day that I hadn`t done a blog at all for the daily listing club. I suppose that`s mainly because I was doing the alphabet blogs and the January Jollies got missed. To rectify the situation I am doing one for today. I know it`s a bit late and this is the first day of February, but better late than never.
I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Natalie of NOfkants Curios for doing her usual inestimable job of steering us through the month. A month that seems to have been quite good for most people sales wise and a month that has gone so fast.
I still have a Clearance Sale going on in my shop with many items less than half price. As I am working on lot`s of new projects I decided it would be a good idea to clear stock with a massive sale. This sale will end on 10th February so if you want a bargain now is your chance.
Yesterday I looked after my youngest grandson and yes, just for a change, he wanted to go on the bus. Before we went he `helped` me to wrap a package for the post office and when we got back we made a fish pie for tea as he and his 2 brothers and sister were coming to dine along with my younger daughter. Have to say the fish pie was yummy and enjoyed by all.

ENJOY!!!

The wind blew and howled around
hurtling things along the ground.
Chairs blew over, crashing down
enough to make a body frown.
The trees were bending and shaking
the wind so strong it was making
branches tear and rend
so much they`ll never mend.
Seagulls wheeling and screaming
so far in land and seeming
to shout their anger and fury
at nature`s very arbitrary
ways that cause them to change
the distance they have to range.
People clutch at coats and hat
awkwardly bent against a wind that
in a moment will snatch away
anything it possibly can today!!

Jan Craftyfolk #Etsy

I was at work all day yesterday, it was busy and non stop all day. By the time I came home and had some tea I was weary. I sat here and stared at the screen hoping for inspiration of some sort.
Then I checked my mail, that took a while as I hadn`t been able to sort any of it all day, after that it was the shop`s turn on each site. I suddenly realised that I was wasting time and procrastinating, rather than getting on with the job in hand.
So I had to buckle down and get on with it ..... but .....I was still sitting here staring at the screen 10 minutes later. I wasn`t even staring at crafts, it was the blog screen!!
I considered treasuries I had done, had a look but no couldn`t be bothered. Then inspiration did indeed strike! Why not do a Crafty folk blog? I didn`t think I`d done a January one yet and this was to be the last day of the month. That was it then decision made.
And so the Crafty folk blog for January was born. Ta Da!!!
While at work yesterday I learned that I shall very likely be made redundant. One part of me was rejoicing as my job has changed beyond all recognition but another part was sad as I have been there for 20 years almost. But I am a great believer in everything happening for a reason and that when one door closes another opens, you just have to look out for it and be ready.
So I shall continue as I am for now until I know one way or the other and then I`ll see what happens.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

The sun is rising in all it`s glory
starting this new days story.
Setting the clouds alight
with it`s luminous light.
The clouds they rush and hurry by
some nothing more than a sigh.
Others large and now turning pink
such a pretty sight I think.
Now orange stretches far and wide
seems as though it goes from side to side.
But that`s a trick of the the sun
reflecting far, till it`s rising is done.
Every morning a different show
that`s all part of nature`s flow.
An amazing show completely free
available for all to see!!

Red is for Romance #Etsy

A few days ago I did treasury for the On Fire for Handmade team I belong to. Much to my surprise it got put into a treasury competition which is very exciting. You can see it here and vote too if you like.
I have to say, in all fairness that all the treasuries are gorgeous.
The treasury was for a Valentine theme so I went looking for items within that team first and filled the treasury very nicely. That meant of course that it was a 100% team treasury and eligible for the contest, which I knew nothing about at the time.
I`ve asked on Facebook and Twitter for people to vote for me and to my surprise several did, which was really lovely of them. I also asked on another team I am part of and they voted too, it was lovely to have such amazing support.
Yesterday I had to go into the city to do some stuff and only came back with three balls of cotton yarn, which as you know, is very good for me. It did take the entire morning up which was very annoying as there was lot`s I was hoping to do. Still, I also got a load of paperwork done, so that was very good, time consuming, but good.
Our weather has been very blustery and wet, with a wind that has a real bite to it. I preferred the snow to this weather. The temperatures are higher but it doesn`t feel like it.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Red burns bright like a fire,
it`s a colour that does inspire.
Vibrant and `in your face`,
it tends to make the heart race.
In every shade it`s quite a sight,
from the very dark, to the very light.
A colour for romance and passion
never seeming to go out of fashion.
One too for the Christmas season,
as though we need another reason.
It brightens dark winter days
carrying a message that says
I`m here, you can`t miss me
I`m so truly vibrant you see.
A colour for romance to bloom
for love that cuts through the gloom
that say`s spring won`t be long.
I truly hope that`s not wrong!!
