Pastels #Etsy

I`ve been seeing so many pastel shades on the different sites that I thought I might as well go with that idea too. I toddled off to Etsy to see what was about and discovered tons. If you want to see more than I have brought to you then just pop Pastels into the search box and away you go.
Pastels are popular this time of year with thoughts turning to spring, even if the weather isn`t as yet.
Although to be fair it was reasonably mild yesterday and we even had some sunshine. Didn`t quite make it into double figures but it was trying. It`s times like that when you started thinking that spring is round the corner.
Apparently it`s days like that that make some people want to spring clean, an odd notion that one. Actually that`s said rather tongue in cheek as as once we get a few nice days I too have the urge to spring clean and wash curtains and cushion covers.
Had the grandchildren round for tea, just 3 of them as the eldest was working. We had meatballs and pasta which disappeared very rapidly. After tea they got out the Wii Fit board and took turns playing the games with much laughter. A good time was had by all.

With pastels it`s think spring
time to hear the birds sing.
Days of warmth and light
pretty clothes, a lovely sight.
Shedding of winter, leaves emerge
plants beginning to grow, on the verge
of blooming as they come back to life
shaking off all winters strife.
The earth begins to warm and feed
every little far flung seed.
Grass begins to grow once more
giving gardens a green floor.
Birds start to build their nest
finding what they need that`s best
to make a home for their young
each one a small hero unsung.
Pastel colours can be fun
when they mean winters done!!

Let`s Cook #FolksyFriday

Something I haven`t had on here before and decided to do for a change. All things cooking related. The idea came because I looked at the Folksy front page and they had a Gifts for Home Bakers section. After a quick look I decide to go with it as there was lot`s of variety to show on here.
People do seem to be getting into baking more and more again now. Cooking programmes do encourage an interest but I do think that a lot of these scandals in recent years about what is put into ready made foods had made quite a difference.
It does take a little longer to cook food from basics but is much tastier and most of all, you know exactly what has gone into it.
The latest scandal with the horse meat replacing beef in a vast majority of foods from supposedly reputable manufacturers has also stopped people buying ready made food. I think it is very likely the tip of the iceberg and there will be many more such `scandals`. Profit has become king and woe betide anyone who stands in the way of that, be it customer or governing bodies.
With any luck all of this will bring about lasting change in the food industry. After all we expect food to be what it is labelled as. Perhaps we`ll find that meat labelled as beef joints is also misinformation. Wonder how often they are checked.
It`s quite scary to think that these companies have become so huge that they believe they are above the law and so far seem to be.

The smell of baking wafting through
makes all family members stick like glue,
close to the kitchen, home of the smell
a scent they know all too well.
It means food that is divine,
that looks good and tastes fine.
What to do, what to make?
Well you could bake a cake.
How about a tasty pie for dinner?
That`s bound to be a winner.
Make chutney, jams and jellies
all bound for hungry bellies.
When you create it`s from the heart
even whilst making a delicious tart.
From basics make a lovely curry
it won`t be eaten in a hurry.
You don`t have to be humble
serving up a crunchy crumble.
But whatever you make have fun
and enjoy the results when done!!

Spring Wedding Fever #Etsy

Having had a long day at work ideas were few and far between. So I looked on the various treasury threads to see what I fancied doing. The old two birds with one stone jobby... if you know what I mean.
Disclaimer: No birds were harmed in the making of this treasury or blog.
I know, I know, I`m just too witty for my own good sometimes. Not funny? Well it has been a long day.
Anyway, I`m digressing, a very bad habit.
Back to it. The On Fire for Handmade team on Etsy had a theme of Fever so I had a quick look through what had already been done and there was no Wedding Fever. So I thought, why not and did.
As I was doing it anyway I thought I would make it a 100% team treasury and therefore blog.
With spring, hopefully just around the corner, many people are planning weddings. I know it`s a year round occasion but there are a lot in spring. I suppose it`s because spring signifies new beginnings and new growth with winter over.
I think most people love weddings and all the wonderful paraphenalia that goes with it. A wedding can be as big or small as you wish and there are things to cater for every budget available on line. This was a kill two birds with one stone job. Not literally of course, but metaphorically speaking. Wouldn`t really want to harm any birds, they are cute.
Oh my goodness I`m rambling already and I`ve barely started. So not a good sign.
I have to say in my defence that yesterday was one of those days where you never really seem to catch up. I didn`t get up until just gone 7.30 a.m, mainly because I`d had a very restless and wakeful night and felt as though I`d just dropped off when hubby brought me a cup of tea.
Of course that meant I was already a good hour and a half behind on my work, so there was catching up to be done. The sale on my shop was finished, so I had to spend alot of time changing all the listings, very time consuming.
If anyone knows of a faster way.... please don`t tell me just yet, give it a month or two.
It was also very cold, although I was so tired it was probably more me feeling it more, if you know what I mean.
Anyway I was still behind by the evening and wanted to at least get one treasury done but I was running out of time, plus Etsy seemed to be having problems and I kept losing it. At one point I thought I might have to go elsewhere for my blog.... oh dear.
I am trying not to ramble. So I did eventually finish the treasury and then decided it would save time to put it on here. So here it is.
Goodness me what a lot of waffle to make a simple point. Too late to change it now, if you had any sense you would have skipped this bit anyway.

Cannot think of a single rhyme,
not to get this done in time.
Not a brain muscle is flexed,
the brow is definitely perplexed.
The face is not a pretty sight
as I glower into the night.
Wrinkles are forming as I speak
my sanity is beginning to leak
away very slow but sure
I don`t think there is a cure.
My brain has become overloaded
I think my eyeballs have exploded.
My shoulders are bowed and hunched
my back bent and scrunched,
as I sit and beaver away
as I do every single day.
Some days I want to rebel
to stand up, scream and yell.
Instead I just carry on
until all my work is done!!
