Handmade & Vintage Crafty Folk #Etsy

Well I am having more internet problems. Can you believe that? It's getting beyond a joke now. The new router had dropped out of hyperspace a couple of times but this time it wouldn`t come back. Arghhh!
After a busy day rushing about all I wanted to do was catch up with my online stuff. Managed to sort some e-mails and that was it, gone. I was not a happy bunny. What is going on with the internet at the minute, every other person seems to be having problems.
Okay whinge over..... for now.
Back to the matter at hand and this blog. I think it`s time for some Crafty Folk on here once more. Have been seeing some wonderful creations and lovely vintage items too on the daily listing club on Etsy. So I decided to share some with you once more.
I hope you enjoy these wonderful finds as much as I do.
Yesterday... besides having internet problems again, I was busy taking pics of new creations. I posted a hat that had been ordered and then picked up my youngest grandson from pre-school.
We visited the shops on the way home as he decided he would like a roll for his lunch then went to my house. After lunch we went to the supermarket where he had a whale of a time rushing about helping. I would pass him things and then he would rush to throw it in the trolley. He thought it was all hilarious and kept getting the giggles. Then while we waited in the queue he was aiming the trolley at grandad who would jump out of the way which produced more giggles. By the time it was all done we were all in fits of laughter including the cashier who thought he was great.
By the time we were home and it was all put away it was time for him to go home, one weary little boy. Bless him.

ENJOY!!!

From inside, it`s a perfect day,
makes me want to go out and play.
Big mistake, I went out and found
the chill was very profound.
The wind was blowing and really stung,
maybe I should have stopped and flung
on my coat against that chill,
next time, maybe I will.
But it looked so nice, a bit like spring
made me feel like I should sing.
But that one step in the great outdoors
made me ask, why aren`t there laws
against such very chilly weather,
though I`m sure we`ll get through it together.
I had several pictures to take
though I wished I could only make
my creations and stay warm inside
because such cold I can`t abide.
Walking out nicely wrapped,
then I have the chill all zapped.
Soon, I hope the spring will be here
and all of us will cheer!

Scottish Challenge #FolksyFriday

Todays Folksy Friday was taken from a thread on the forums called the Scotland Challenge. Lot`s of people joined in and made something that had a Scottish Theme. Including, tartan, heather, thistles, Robbie Burns (poems)and many more. Those are just the ones I have spotted so far. And of course the 25th January was I believe Burns Night.
Not being Scottish or having much in the way of Scottish connections much of all this has passed me by, until now. Although come to think of it I do have an Aunt in Scotland. Considering that, maybe I should know more about Scotland than I do.
Let me think..... what do I know? There are beautiful mountains and Lochs, a rumoured Loch Ness monster, men wear kilts and families, that are called clans, have their own tartan. I think that`s about it. That`s actually quite appalling really as knowledge goes.... oh, something else, haggis and bagpipes are also part of the picture... Did just think of something else... but no, it`s gone. Once this blog is finished I am sure lot`s of other things will spring to mind.
I have read quite a bit about Scotland in the past, quite a few years ago now but I`m sure it will all come back to me..... eventually.
I believe the next challenge will be St David`s Day and Wales. I suppose I ought to put my thinking cap on for that as my Father`s side of the family is Welsh. Hmm....
Anyway, what did I do yesterday? I went and got my haircut, a ten minute wait wasn`t bad. Not long after I got there loads of people started appearing so I timed that one just right. I finished a hat for an order and that will be listed somewhere today.
Although the sun came out I didn`t get a chance to take any pics as I was busy preparing tea for the grandchildren to visit. I made a beef cobbler, I haven`t made one of those in years but they seemed to enjoy it.
Then it was games on the Wii, lot`s of fun and laughter. The older ones headed off home earlier as one was off to youth club, then a bit later I walked the little two back and we stargazed on the way. It was a clear night and the stars looked amazing, there was even a sliver of moon.
I decided that I need to brush up on my astronomy as the 5 yr old was asking what the other shapes were after I identified Orion and his belt. Must brush up on those methinks.

ENJOY!!!

Scotland, the land of the brave
their country, they are ready to save.
They have to be brave to wear a kilt
in that weather I`d want a quilt.
A beautiful landscape, mountains galore
and heather covered, many a Moor.
Culloden, where there was a battle,
I wonder does it now support cattle?
The stunning beauty of the Lochs
and the wearing of tartan socks.
The families are called clans
and each, I believe have many fans.
It`s the home of Malt Whiskey
renowned for making you frisky.
Edinburgh has a yearly Tattoo
that many visitors flock to.
An accent that`s music to my ear
although to me, it`s not always clear.
From Robert Burns, a Red Red Rose
that is of course from his prose.
All of this and so much more
in the Scottish creations galore!

Crafty Finds #Etsy

It`s the turn of the Etsy folk today. I think I am just going to have a look around and see what I find rather than follow a theme. Although, saying that once I start looking anything could happen, a theme may or may not materialise.
A theme didn`t materialise I added things that caught my eye instead. Hope you like my choices today. Please do have a browse through the shops as they have many more wonderful creations.
Mmm... yesterday. What did I do? I was busy making a hat that had been ordered and it should be finished today.
We went and picked up the 5 yr old grandson from school and I took my crochet with me, a pair of fingerless mitts I`m making in gorgeous purples and plums. They are almost finished. Haven`t managed to take any photos as the weather has been so lousy. Rain, rain and more rain, not to mention how chilly it has been too. The forecast for today is yet more rain and I have to say that I am getting fed up with it. I know we do need rain at times, but this much, really? Shouldn`t there be a law against it?
I think it`s time we had some sunshine. Yes, I know it`s January and we have had some nice days but constant grey cloud and rain is depressing.
Anyway, enough waffle, else you`ll all get depressed at the thought of our weather too.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Oh dear it`s such a dreary day
dull, wet, cloudy and grey.
Please won`t someone send some sun
preferably by the time this verse is done.
A little sun for the light
a lot of sun to make me bright.
Well maybe that`s a touch to far
I really wouldn`t want to mar
the day by telling such a big fib,
that`s what happens when you try to ad lib.
We all do really need some brightness
to give our steps added lightness.
Constant grey is bad for the soul
when happiness is the goal.
So Mother Nature listen here,
I`d like to make this very clear,
it`s time for the rain to depart
and for the better weather to start.
Can`t be much clearer than that,
so please get on it, stat!
