Fun & Funky #FolksyFriday

I wanted something a bit fun on here today. Maybe Fun and Funky. I thought that would be just the thing to combat the chill and interminable greyness of the winter weather. Might even throw in a bit of cute too, I`ll see what I can find.
Found some lovely things for you to see... well I like them them anyway. Obviously my taste isn`t everyone`s cup of tea, but you can always pop along to the different shops to see what else they have to offer. You never know you might find the very thing you want or need and didn`t realise.
I think that might sound a bit strange, a bit like the verse too. That was what popped into my head so that`s it for today. The thing is I can`t be objective about the verse anyway.... well, to tell the truth, I don`t read it as a whole once I`ve written it anyway. It just gets spell checked and that`s it.
Had a busy day yesterday getting tea done ahead of time as the grandchildren were having the evening meal with us. Added a few more things to the Wow Thank You shop, reserved a couple of things a customer wants and updated the website. Finished the hat I`d been doing and was really pleased with it. Made a set of 6 festive coasters to replace the ones that sold and started my daughters hat. Yay!! Don`t really feel as though I achieved much today somehow. Mind you, everyone gets days like that, where you seem to be rushing around and not getting much done.

Saw the sun rising the other morning,
it glowed red as the day was dawning.
Then it turned to orange flame
I thought it was a very strange game.
I`m used to colours streaking the sky,
the reds and golds, oh so high.
But this was beyond the norm,
Mother Nature was a bit off form.
The sight made me almost spill my tea
but I wasn`t scared, no, not me.
Well maybe a little part told me to run
but I said, no, it`s only the sun.
Perhaps it does this more often than not,
while my head is still stuck in the teapot.
There was, I thought, some cause for concern,
it could be the sun might begin to burn
itself out much faster than thought,
a wiser head than mine should be sought.
I don`t watch the sunrise every day,
nearly, but not quite, so I couldn`t say
if this could have happened before,
it could have a million times and more.
So perhaps for now I`ll just watch and wait
before I go running for the gate.
The gate to where? you might want to know
I`ve no idea, I`ll just go with the flow.

Boot Camp Babes #Handmade #Folksy

Thought I would do my bit for the boot campers today. I was very good the first week but have not been so good this week. Monday passed me by entirely and Tuesday, when I remembered I did make the effort to do my bit and go tweeting other members.
For those that don`t know the boot camp was started by Maram of Maram Jewellery as a way of encouraging us all to promote more as sales up to that point had been very slow. So we have been encouraged to use Stumble Upon, Twitter, Pinterest, Craftjuice and Facebook. This is very helpful for newer sellers who haven`t yet had time to find out about all these things. Although it`s probably quite overwhelming if you`ve never done any of them.
I do already and have for some time, belonged to all of those and more, but it`s good to be reminded to use them. When you get busy some things tend to slip and once you get out of the habit it`s harder to get back into it.
What did I do yesterday.... Yes, I remember now, as if I could forget. I went into the dreaded city for more yarn. I was in the shop for ages, humming and haaaing over the right colour to get. My daughter wanted purple but purple varies so widely, although she did help by saying similiar to a top I had on. So that did make it a bit easier. It was quite crowded, with people everywhere, ambling along. I know it`s great to amble if you have the time but I don`t. I do tend to get impatient when people stop dead in front of me or go at a snails pace because they are chatting. I just want to get what I have to and get home. I think I must be getting old and grumpy. Am I? Maybe a little or maybe just eccentric. I think I prefer eccentric.
We picked our grandson up from school and I popped there after tea to babysit for a while.
I won`t mention the housework I did in the morning as I`m still traumatised from it.

The Boot Camp Babes are on show
doesn`t the thought make you glow.
We`re busy making all day long
occasionally breaking into song.
We do it cos we love it so much,
right down to the last finishing touch.
But we have to sell what we make
else we won`t be able to eat cake!
Not really, we sell just to buy more,
love sending those things out the door.
Then we can rush off for more supplies
creating and hoping that this too flies
out of the shop and on it`s way
to make way for more creative play.
We pray to the sales fairy, visit us.
Come on it`s shopping without fuss.
The stocks really need to go down
mine are making my hubby frown.
But I can`t stop making something new,
without crafting I would be blue.
The ideas still keep flowing free,
just pouring out endlessly you see.
The brain works on all through the night
and by morning I`m quite a sight.
Luckily for you, you can`t see me
otherwise you would probably FLEE!!

NovemberNexus Delights #Handmade #Folksy

As you can see we have a lovely display from the November Nexus listing club today. The diversity of crafts is truly amazing as is the quality and beautiful workmanship. Considering that most of these are One of a Kind the prices are pretty amazing too. When you think that people pay hundreds of pounds for a `designer` item that is made in the hundreds or thousands, I think the prices are stunning.
I was reading an article in a Sunday magazine about the way people are going back to basics, sewing and cooking and growing their own food. It just goes to show that people really are getting fed up with the mass produced market.
I was at work yesterday but as always was crocheting before work, at lunchtime and again in the evening. I am busy making a red slouchy beret as someone enquired about one. So the other hat I started making has gone on the back burner for a bit.
My oldest grandson popped round after tea as he wanted to know how to cast off a small blanket he`d been knitting. he`d tried knitting before but it hadn`t quite clicked but this time it did and he did really well.

We love nothing better than to create,
the creating appetite we have to sate.
The crafting need is very strong,
when away from it, we really long
to return to our artistic work,
it`s one thing we never shirk.
I walk around with my head in a cloud
don`t hear anything, even when it`s loud.
I think most of us are the same
we truly love the crafting game.
A sale is exciting, a very great high
and lack of them really makes us sigh.
Then we wonder if what we`ve made is bad,
the very thought makes us so sad.
Then something is bought and on it`s way
and once more we are ready for play.
The hectic crafting life isn`t easy
the amount of work would make some queasy.
But we do what we love and love what we do,
making wonderful creations especially for you!

Handmade Crafts #Folksy

Lot`s of different crafts today to no particular theme, just that I liked them and they caught my eye as I looked through the listings on Folksy. Lot`s of people are having to buy birthday or other special occasion gifts and it`s nice to have things on here that aren`t overtly Christmassy although a few are. Sorry, but at this time of year I just can`t resist, I`m a sucker for christmas things.
I seem to have a real `thing`for sparkles this year and have made sparkly hats as well as adding sparkly yarns to other creations. I just think it adds to the beauty and brightens us all up a little bit. The other thing is that these items are great for day or evening wear.
I finished the red hat I was making as I told you and am having a go at a different style of hat. Simultaneously I am making a beret, but still haven`t made a start on the scarf ideas that are brewing. I`ll get there though.
It was a beautiful day in Norfolk yesterday and we went to the Broads at Wroxham to do some shopping and watched the two youngest grandchildren feed the ducks and swans. The two year old was a bit startled when a swan snatched a piece of bread from his hand because he was a bit slow throwing it. Bless him.
The other week we were saying that sales on the Folksy site were slow and some were coming up with things they had to tempt the sales fairy into their shops, like chocolate and cakes etc. So I added a couple of little verses to the thread just for fun. So I have decided to put them on here today to amuse you.
