Hot and Cold #Etsy

This is the proverbial two birds with one stone lark, although technically it`s actually three. It`s the Craftyfolk team treasury challenge and the British Crafter`s team Shop of the Week too, as well as this blog.

Well, hot pink is so bright,
a warm and welcoming sight.
Just made for summery days
for sitting watching outdoor plays.
Or maybe wearing to a wedding
in summer when we are all shedding
heavy clothing and in favour of light
during the day and by night.
Aqua now is beautifully cool
makes me think of a pool
or a waterfall cascading and flowing
with sparkling light in the sun, glowing.
Reminiscent too of a Caribbean sea
of holidays and blue skies, it is for me.
Beautiful apart even better together
just great to have whatever the weather!!

Geek Gifts #FolksyFriday

Looking for ideas for my Folksy Friday this week I was browsing the front page and discovered a section for Geek Gifts. A quick browse and I was hooked. Definitely the one for today I decided.
It`s unbelievable how popular any and all geeky items are. They are no longer just for geeks, they are also for wannabe geeks too.
Geek is now hot and trendy. It`s official!
Yesterday I went to the city and met a good friend of mine, Theresa, for coffee. We excelled ourselves and managed to talk non stop for 4 hours. Although in our defence we hadn`t managed to meet up for a few weeks, so there was a lot to catch up on.
I was very fortunate this week as Theresa, who`s shop is Creative Treasures had brought me a present. It was an extra special present, one that she had made herself and that I loved on sight. It was a set of crochet hooks with polymer clay handles. A very unique and useful gift.

Once upon a time if you were a geek
you were considered to be weak.
A nerd, a dork, to be ignored
a body where useless info was stored.
But now they`ve come into their own
with a status that has really grown.
No longer hiding away, they`re loudly
stating who they are and proudly
standing up for what they believe
with a magic only they can weave.
Gadgets are hot, they`re what geeks use
so easily, but for many just confuse.
At their fingertips they have a wealth
of knowledge and no need of stealth
to travel the information highways
without getting stuck in the byways.
The world is there at their fingertips,
they speak without ever moving their lips.
The world is their oyster every day,
as they travel around at work and play!!

Summer Shades #Etsy

There was a rumour that yesterday was warm but I was at work and didn`t see or feel much of it. I did notice the sunshine from time to time and everyone was more cheerful..... mostly.
As always the day was so busy it passed really quickly, which was good from my point of view. I wanted to be home and doing my `real` job, my business of crafting and of course blogging. Very soon, at the end of this month it will be my full time job as I am being made redundant from my job. Sadly it`s not the same any more since we had new bosses and now I shall be glad to leave. I`ve spent over twenty years working there so at first I was sad at the thought of leaving but now I am more than ready for the next adventure. Bring it on!!
Anyway.... All that waffling doesn`t tell you much about the blog. A Craftyfolk Shop of the week and a team treasury challenge all rolled into one. That`s a three for one and a brilliant time saver.

Summer will soon be here
it`s on it`s way, never fear.
Warm days and balmy nights
dreaming of the summer sights.
Barbecue smoke curling in the air
most arms and legs all bare.
Picnics in a beach or park
enjoying the fun, having a lark.
Suntanned limbs and happy faces
as summer puts us through the paces.
Sitting on the sand, gazing at the sea,
it`s holiday time and we`re finally free.
Free of clocks and the daily grind
makes everyone much happier I find.
Less clothes to wear, much lighter too
and so much less washing to do.
Gas and electric cost much less
just what I like, I must confess.
All in all, it`s the season for me
so much better all round you see!!

Pantone Spring #Etsy

As you know I was away over the weekend and now I`m back I am frantically trying to catch up. To save time I did a treasury for the On Fire For Handmade team on Etsy, although that was n`t the only reason. I got put on the Team blog as the winning treasury last week and with that came the opportunity to advertise on the Team blog for free. Yay!!
The thing is that once you achieve something you want to do it again and again. Well I do anyway, especially something like this that has all advantages and no downside.
My weekend away visiting family was celebration time with lots of birthdays happening. It was really good fun but I must admit that I am very tired now, feeling as though my brain has gone numb and my eyes need propping open with matchsticks. So not a good look!!
I was however quite productive despite the celebrations and managed to get some patterns onto paper so I have a few new things and the rough draft of three patterns. Now I need to make them again and this time take photos as I go along, before putting it all together. I also had ideas for more new things. Not enough time, aarrrrgggghhh!!

Won`t be much of a ditty
and really not very pretty.
Eyes are stinging like mad
and I will really be glad
to get finished on here
so my head can clear.
The brain is nearly as numb
as the other end, my bum
from sitting here so long
this catching up lark is wrong.
My brain has really slowed right down
I can no longer even manage a frown.
All I want to do is sleep
yet here I sit and still keep
busily working, slaving away
but this can`t keep till another day.
A daily blog is done each night
regardless of the awful sight
