Eggciting #FolksyFriday

As it`s Easter I thought I would see if I could find some eggciting and interesting creations to do with Easter for you. I don`t think I`ve done mainly eggs so I thought I would give it a go and see what I could find.
I did stray just a little from the egg theme but the cakes looked so tasty that I couldn`t resist adding them too.
I hope that many of you will be having a break from work on this Bank Holiday. Although sadly that doesn`t seem to mean much anymore. Once upon a time shops had to close on Bank Holidays and most people, apart from vital services would be off work, spending time with families and friends.
Still, I suppose this is the price of progress, most people still having to work and very often nowadays, not even being paid extra to work the Bank Holiday. Such a shame.
Anyway, after that little whinge, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter whatever you do or wherever you go.
With any luck I shall be doing some crafting. Yay!!

What does Easter mean to you?
We wanted nice weather now Easter`s here
but it`s staying cold, that is clear.
I can`t believe it`s here already
just take the treats nice and steady.
Take the time to relax and rest,
dally longer each morning in your nest.
Prepare for each eggciting day ahead
savour the delight before you leave your bed.
It`s a family time to get together
to enjoy each others company despite the weather.
Lot`s of laughter and so much fun
weary and tired when each day is done.
A cup of tea or a glass of wine
I`m sure either will be just fine.
A bit of chocolate, a slice of cake,
well it is Easter for goodness sake.
Stay warm and dream of summer sun
surely winter will soon be done!!

Hearts & Flowers #Etsy

This was a treasury made for the British Crafters on Etsy treasury challenge. This week we are building treasuries for Colleen of Midnight Star Designs.
Her shop bio says:
A mix of vintage and modern jewellery made by me, created with heart, crafted with soul.
It`s short and to the point but also very true. A browse through her shop is the proof that Colleen crafts from the heart and puts her soul into it to produce beautiful jewellery.
I was at work yesterday and as usual it was non stop. I didn`t get the chance to do any crafting before work but I did do some last night. I am still making gloves to my new pattern and am hoping to get the pattern written down over Easter and then put up for sale.
It will be a bit of a wrench to part with my newest stitch as I haven`t so far seen anything else made in it. From that I have to surmise that no one else has so far discovered it. Still, I`m sure that it`s only a matter of time anyway so I might as well do patterns for it.

Who doesn`t love a flower or heart
when it comes to gifts a very good start.
Fresh flowers are always great
but sadly they suffer the same fate,
too soon they fade away and die
and quickly we have to say goodbye.
Now the flowers here can be yours
they don`t come from the great outdoors.
These all come from a creative mind
and last so much longer, I find.
Now hearts they are a lovely gift,
signifying love, a response is swift.
You have a winner when you mix the two,
bound to stop anyone feeling blue.
For you or someone else, these will suffice
as a lovely gift, which is always so nice,

Bold & Bright #Folksy

Well here I am back from my long weekend away. I use the term `long` loosely you understand, as it went far too quickly. We were out and about in the city centre of Milton Keynes for a bit of shopping. You`ll be shocked to discover I bought some yarn ..... Just couldn`t resist the beautiful soft 100% cotton yarn. I could easily have bought loads more but heroically I managed to restrain myself.
An enjoyable lunch out before heading back through the blizzard made for a lovely Saturday. Sunday was seeing more family and being fed a divine roast lunch. With great conversation and a glass of wine or two it was a great Sunday. Monday of course I travelled back home via the train, pretty much a repeat of Friday except heading in the other direction.
Over the weekend I also managed to make 9 pairs of fingerless mittens in different colours and styles. I worked out a new pattern that was really easy to do and much quicker. With the stitch I`ve been using lately, that I invented a while back, they are as stretchy as ribbing. Yay!!
I am going to try and make the effort to write the pattern down in a coherent manner and offer it for sale.
I may well ask for a volunteer to test it for me, I`ll see.
Nearly forgot to write about the blog. In view of the dire, dark and grey weather I decided to go for beautiful bold and bright creations today. I also chose Folksy as it seems to be their turn.

A vast rolling landscape in monochrome,
spread out before me as I travel home.
A grey sky and white on the ground,
from the snow that lay all around.
Look at that house, how do they live?
Surely soon, something will give.
Perched up there, seeming to dangle
on the hillside at such an angle.
Before that thought really takes hold
it`s gone, disappeared in a fold
of land as the train whizzes by
this big metal monster that seems to fly.
Flying along with a rumble and clatter,
shaking the ground, the sounds that shatter
the peace of the countryside
these sounds are heard far and wide.
It doesn`t impact upon city or town
the noise there will easily drown
out this monster that chugs along
so very big, noisy and strong!!

Celebrating Spring #Etsy

Today I shall be returning home from my weekend away, revived and ready to get back into the fray once more. Or at least that is the plan. I should have a nice amount of creations made all ready to be photographed and listed too.
This blog is from a treasury for the Craftyfolk Euro Front Page challenge. The previous weeks winner has an item chosen from her shop for us all to build treasuries around. This is to give extra promotion to the shop and to hopefully get a Craftyfolk team treasury on the front page. If it could be one of mine even better..... I think. Would it be better I wonder, or much better to have an item in the front page treasury? The only thing is, the curator of the treasury mustn`t have any of their own items in it. Hmmm.
Anyway I`m digressing. The treasury....
The winner for this week is Dawn of Lilly`s Altered Attic. Her shop is a wonderful mix of artistic creations and crafting supplies. So really, something for everyone because the crafter always needs supplies and if they don`t need them they tend to be like magpies and collect supplies regardless. I speak from experience here.
Then for the non crafter there are gorgeous pieces of art and beautiful handmade cards. So why not go and have a browse. Do have a browse through all these lovely shops displayed for your delectation today.

A poem from the last time I went on the train.

Sitting on the train relaxing
nothing to do that`s very taxing.
Well not for me anyway
but for others it`s a working day.
Laptops out and phones going
working hard while to`ing and fro`ing.
A carriage full of children on a day out,
from the next carriage I still hear them shout.
Out of the window the clouds race by,
the sun shines through glass and I sigh.
The steady rythmn of the train
as I stare out the window pane.
My eyelids begin to drift down,
I nod and start with a frown.
It would be too easy to sleep
but I mustn`t, I need to keep
alert and ready for me to hop
off the train when it`s my stop!!
