Gingerbread Man #Etsy

This is a shop promotion treasury for the new Crafty Folk competition. The winner was Jenny of the shop Mythillogical and she chose her gingerbread men for treasuries to be built around.
These shops aren`t all from the Crafty Folk team but that just adds to the wonderful diversity.
Quite a seasonal theme I think, although you can get gingerbread men and women all year round.
I don`t know about you but when I see them I can almost smell that spicy gingerbread scent and loving ginger, my mouth waters at the thought.
Okay so now that`s got your juices going and you thinking of yummy food we`ll move on to a bit about Jenny.
Jenny`s bio says:
My background is in Illustration, and my illustrative style is creating models which are usually sculpted in polymer clay, with mixed media additions, and their environments and photographing them to create a two dimensional illustration.
Pretty much everything I do involves a character or a concept, or more often than not, a mixture of both! I love play on words, puns and general silliness, so hopefully if you like that kind of thing too then you'll find something you like in my shop.

The gingerbread man ran for his life,
he didn`t like the look of that knife.
Where would he go to stay away from harm?
Maybe he`d try hiding on a farm.
Oh no there are animals there
certainly not likely to fare
any better than he was before.
The reason why he ran out the door.
He couldn`t stay out in case of rain
maybe he should go back again.
Then he realised he wasn`t to eat
was a decoration, for a treat.
He definitely looked very fine
in fact he looked quite divine.

Time to give one of these a home
before any more are tempted to roam!

October Optimists #FolksyFriday

Folksy Friday again already so today my theme will be the October Optimists this month`s listing club on Folksy. Do you like the name? It has a nice ring to it I think and a very positive note. After all we are very optimistic about sales because we believe in what we do and know that there are many of you who prefer to buy handmade and the numbers are growing. Nowadays many people are fed up with the same old mass produced things and want something that is special, unique and of good quality. Let`s face it, our loved ones deserve the nicest gifts available, not to mention the fact that we are all seeking that special something that is different and unusual.
This month we have some familiar people as well as new ones and some that have decided to join again after a break. Which all makes for a goodly diversity of creations to tempt you with.
Yesterday I took my youngest grandson on the bus, just for a change. I ask him what he would like to do and that`s nearly always his answer. He not only loves the bus but he also loves looking in the shops of his choice and meandering about to discover treasure. Well his idea of treasure not mine, bless him.
I did have to take a jumper back that I bought the previous day, nice jumper but I didn`t check the size, I believed what the hanger said, silly me.
Despite that we did have a nice time together as well as our lunch out, he`s such a little cutie.

Today I`m heading off on the train
but I`ll soon be back again.
It`s only for a long weekend
to catch up, revive and mend
the rigours of the last 4 weeks
it`s spiritual balm my soul seeks.
I chat, I laugh and interact
just what`s needed, that`s a fact.
For me it`s a special time out
and that`s really what it`s all about.
On the train I`ll relax
with nothing much to tax
my brain or my mind
rather nice that way, I find.
I`ll see countryside speed by
and almost hear nature`s sigh.
My mind will drift, make up a rhyme
I`ll write it down, maybe in time.
If it`s meant then it`ll be
it always works that way for me.

October Crafty Folk #Etsy

With the new month under way I thought we`d have a look at what the Crafty Folk on Etsy are producing for our delectation. Well I say we, but I already know as I see them everyday, so this is for you to see a few of the creations on offer. Have to say they just get better and better.
Like lot`s of people now I am constantly on the lookout for great and different gift ideas. Hopefully I will manage to actually give most of them as gifts instead of keeping them. So often when they arrive they are so gorgeous that I can`t bear to part with them. I will do better.
I digressed alot there. Although the Crafty Folk name is the same and many of the people are too, there are also lot`s that join in for a month or two and then stop. It`s nice to see different participants and adds greatly to the variety.
Well yesterday I had to go into the city to get my hair cut. I wanted to go early so there wouldn`t be a queue. I don`t make appointments as I just decide and then want it done immediately and I do hate waiting.
Now that reminds me of going into M&S. I got what I wanted in the food hall, went to the tills, oh dear, a queue, not too long just a few people, but still it meant waiting. I looked further along the row and another till was empty so I sailed in there and paid. As I did so I remarked that further down people were queueing, her reply really surprised me. She said that some people actually LIKE to queue. I had to bow to her greater knowledge on the subject but have to say that so far I`ve never met anyone who happily stands in a queue to pay.
I spent far too long in the city and amazingly bought some clothes, not my intention at all. Well actually I wanted a short sleeved jumper type top, but didn`t see anything that fitted the bill, but I did see several things that I liked, so i had a splurge. I was about to say that at least I didn`t buy any yarn, then memory returned. Ooops.

I went to the city to buy a top
but everything I looked at was a flop.
A short sleeved jumper was all I required
no luck with that, but I was inspired
to buy a selection that caught my eye
two in particular made me sigh.
Gorgeous material and colours so rich
that I really couldn`t decide which
one to have, so I bought the two
as they were so yummy there on view.
Three things in that shop and four elsewhere
what can I say? They were sitting there.
Topped it all of with some socks too
not too many, just a pack or two.
Now I`m set up for the winter to come
although I might still need some
new jumpers all warm and cosy
maybe some to look all posy.
The rest of the day I was rushing around,
my feet barely touching the ground!!

Flowers of Blue #Etsy

This blog is featuring a treasury I made for the new featured shop of the week. Now as you know, last week that was my shop and it was wonderful. So I hope for the same for Robyn of Waveofthesea, a week that is as wonderful.
Robyn comes from Edinburgh in Scotland and her bio says:
I mostly draw and work in mixed media. I love taking photos, capturing little pieces of places. I incorporate parts of my photos into my scrapbook jewellery.
I studied Intermedia Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art. I am now studying horticulture and garden design, I am inspired by the natural world and glad to be learning more about it.
A browse through Robyns shop uncovers a treasure trove. A variety of photographs, mixed media art and beautiful jewellery, all a testament to that interest in nature. Do have a look through these gorgeous shops you never know what you`ll discover.
I was at work yesterday and it was busier than usual with so much to get done in a short space of time. I came home exhausted and thinking of my bed. By the time I`d had tea and started on here I was revived a little, not much.

Last night before I went to bed
I had a rhyme running through my head.
It was all about a blue flower
and it`s possibly magic power.
I really should have written it down
as now I sit here with a frown.
The brain is slow and rather numb,
I`m relaxed now sitting on my bum.
All I can do is sit and stare
at the screen`s bright glare.
All words have fled the room
the mind has lost it`s zoom.
My get up and go is sadly gone.
I`m wondering `did I ever have one`?
So yes my brain`s on a go slow
I`ve really lost the rhyming flow.
Here`s the way it would have started
before my senses and I parted.
It`s all there is, it`ll have to do
this tiny flower rhyme just for you!!

If roses are red and violets are blue
are all these flowers violets too?
