Textile Love #FolksyFriday

Folksy are holding a competition titled Textile Love so I am going to have a go at it and see how I get on.
How hard can it be with all the delightful textiles we have to offer on Folksy, not to mention the variety of crafts available in those textiles.
So here goes, I shall see what I can find.
I discovered lots of outstanding creations that I haven`t seen before and shops that I haven`t found before. I must say doing this blog is a continual adventure of discovery, constantly uncovering new treasures along the way.
It is of course, as I have said before, a constant temptation too. If I bought everything I loved the look of I would need a few extra houses to put them all in.
As this is for the competition I won`t waffle on forever today, but will chat a bit more tomorow about all the birthdays and goings on in my part of the world. I`m sure you will find it difficult to contain your impatience to hear more riveting details of my life, but you will just have to wait.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
Have FUN and ENJOY!!!

Nature provides much incentive
to make our creations live.
Greens of gardens and countryside
the trees and fields, side by side.
Hedgerows too provide many shades
until the summer starts to fade.
The colour of every single flower
can give our crafts much power.
Pastel pretty, dark or bright
all provide a wondrous sight.
Then there`s the blues of the sky
a perfect vista up on high.
The changing hues of a storm
we often think of as the norm.
Stop though and really stare
amazing what is out there.
So many textures, bark, that`s rough
to last so long it has to be tough.
Petals, so silky to the touch,
from flowers that give so much.
Smooth leaves and spongy moss
their absence would be a great loss.
Nature`s changing beauty is all around
and makes our creativity abound!

Fruity Nuts #Handmade #Folksy

Have you guessed it? Yes? Today it`s the February Fruitcakes listing club on Folksy. I just realised that we hadn`t had them on here for a bit, so here they are. Ta da!!!
The crafts in the listing club just seem to keep on getting better and better. Not sure how that`s possible, but they do. The standard was high to begin with but these crafters just keep on raisng the bar. If you are looking for a gift or a treat that`s unique and of high quality then you won`t go far wrong with any of these.
Got a bit out of rythmn with all the goings on, the wedding and all. Now we are about to launch into birthday celebrations over the next three days. I trust you are all feeling sorry for me having to keep on celebrating. Whoopeeeee!! I`ll be sure to have the odd glass and think of you all.
On that note I shall say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my daughter and grandson. Her age is ..... and he is 13 yrs old. Officially a teenager.
Now what did I do yesterday. Ahh yes... We went out food shopping and on the way back stopped at a shop where I bought myself a lemon tree and a lavender tree. There had been an orange tree too but I was too late and missed out. Still I am very pleased with the two I did get. The lemon tree already has lemons on it. Both trees are gorgeous. One happy customer, me!
I also finished off five hairbands in red with white flowers. I had an enquiry about a red headband with a white flower, so I made more so there is a choice. Of course the lady may not like any of them but that`s okay, I`m sure someone will if not.
It was dry in the morning yesterday but very windy and cloudy but by lunchtime the rain had come in and it was miserable. It was supposed to be milder but it didn`t feel like it the wind was so cold and blustery, hence the rhyme.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

The wind was blowing fit to bust
oh dear, that was a very big gust.
The garden is a whirling mess
it will have to be cleared I guess.
Luckily that`s hubby`s job, not mine
he`ll soon have it looking fine.
A chair is over, on it`s back
covers for them are something I lack.
Falling twigs and swirling leaves,
glad I`ve got on long sleeves.
Feeling sorry for every child
the wind tends to make them wild.
A teacher once told me that,
to them I take off my hat.
I`ve heard it from other sources since
and now the wind`s sound makes me wince.
Hats get grabbed and then they fly
all you can do is wave them bye bye.
The washing gets whisked away
looks like it is trying to play.
Fences rattle trying to escape
this is so much more than a jape.
It blows so hard it sounds scary
making one and all a bit wary.
Stay indoors safe and snug,
warm just like a bug in rug!!

Bags and Purses #Etsy

I was looking at all the listings from the Crafty Folk and pinning many to my Pinterest board when a vibrant purse caught my eye. Before that I had been looking through a different thread and a bag had caught my eye. Seeing the purse then decided me, I would put bags and purses on the blog for today. There are so many fabulous handbags, not to mention shoppers and totes and clutches and so much more, that it`s good to have a variety on here and be reminded what is about.
Lets face it, you can never have too many bags. Whether they are serviceable or statement bags they all say something about us. Large or small, one colour or many, decorated or not, they tend to say a little bit about who we are. Purses too are a must, we all need purses and the amount of change we carry tends to wear them away fast. Have to say that there aren`t many purses as I got a bit carried away with the bags.
Yesterday I was at Dragon Hall in Norwich. There were four of us to take down the lights, not me for that job, I hate heights and to remove all the rest of the wedding things. lanterns, chair covers, wine, water, Cheese and so on. I could keep going but I`ll spare you that. If you saw the blog yesterday you`ll have a bit of an idea of what it looked like in the building. I am hoping to get hold of some pictures of it all set up to show you all. Unfortunately I didn`t get any pics of the actual wedding or any bits afterwards. Mainly I suppose because I was busy helping to be a hostess and getting round to chat to people.
It was only much later that I realised my camera hadn`t been out of the case. Oh dear. It is such a beautiful old building and very little known too, so we`ll have to rectify that.
After the clearing up we went out for lunch and talked nineteen to the dozen. Well we women did anyway. So wonderful to get on so well with your daughters in-laws, nice to have so much in common. Anyway the lunch was delightful and of course I ate too much. Will be very sorry to see them go home. But when we can organise it we will go and visit them in Northumberland which will be lovely.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Today we have handbags galore,
purses and so much more.

Stylish bags and fancy too
all of these made for you.
Lot`s of colours or some plain

A back pack for a child

Glorious colours, oh so bright
all such a wonderful sight.
Bags that will hang on your arm
all that are bound to charm.
Others that will go on your shoulder
many to make you feel much bolder.
A beautiful embrodered silk one
grab it quick before it`s gone.
How about a gorgeous leather,
stays good whatever the weather.
Purses too, bright and bold
so gorgeous they will never seem old.
Useful cute and just plain great
go on now, why should you wait?
Whatever is your chosen style
the one you choose will make you smile!!

Tulips #Handmade #Folksy

I saw some gorgeous creations with tulips on and was instantly transported back to Saturday. The bride and the bridesmaids at my daughters wedding carried tulips. Simple, but very very effective. They really set off the dresses without detracting from them.
Tulips are also a lovely reminder of spring and right now we need a reminder as it has turned so cold again. Yesterday was bright with sunshine but with a very chilly wind. It seems after a brief promise of spring we are back to winter.
I promised to tell you a little bit about the wedding, so here goes.
Try and picture a beautiful old building, Dragon Hall, with massive beams spanning the high ceilings. All these beams were covered in white fairy lights and the walls, also with many large wooden beams, were bedecked with the same lights. In the dusk of early evening they twinkled and sparkled like thousands of stars.
The tables for the reception were all named for cities that had meaning for the couple, Zurich, where they lived recently and cities here and abroad they had visited or lived in. Each table had a large lantern in the centre with a tall candle inside that added to the fairy tale look.
It was wonderful to catch up with relatives and friends that we hadn`t seen for a while and to meet new people that have now become part of the family too. There were lots of friends of the couple too that had come from far and wide to share in their day and help to make it even more special.
It all went so quickly and it seems unbelievable that it`s now past and life will once more become ordinary after all the flurry of preparations.
For the couple of course it`s another adventure on their journey through life.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Life is a journey, so they say,
an adventure leading to the big day.
Then the adventure just gets bigger
as now the couple have to figure
which path is the one to take
as each day they now wake
side by side and continue on
now the wedding day is done.
Occasionally they`ll hit a cul de sac
and wonder what that choice did lack.
Then they`ll turn and move on
that path already forgotten and done.
Life`s twists and turns take us many places
and we often meet old and new faces.
We find ourselves in places we don`t know
that occasionally dulls the glow.
Love and laughter pick us up
help to fill the empty cup.
Through life`s up and downs and each test
keep talking and you`ll forget the rest.
A long life together can take work
a task you should never shirk.
Make the most of each and every day
for a long happy life, it`s the best way!!
