Do It With Metal #Folksy

This blog is all crafts made of metal or with metal as part of them. Regular readers may recall seeing the blog titled `Do It With Wood`which I kind of liked as a title and I thought at the time that it might be fun to do a series of blogs with different mediums. I suppose I could even do the same for each site. Now that`s an idea. It would be interesting to see the differences in what`s available from each.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy what I`ve found for you in metal. Some quite different and unusual things I think.
The last couple of days I have been working on some new food and drink covers. The first ones I`ve made will fit jugs and glasses. They are made from netting and I have crocheted them around the edge and then stitched beads on the lower edge. For the glass ones I have made a matching coaster too.

The wind is blowing quite a gale.
And me? I just want to wail.
What happened to the summer sun?
Surely it can`t already be done.
With days of cold yet to follow
I am ready for a good wallow
in misery `cos of unseasonable cold
it`s making me start to feel old.
Even if the sun is only out for a while
it really makes everyone smile.
The grey cloud, wind and rain
are likely to drive us insane.
Spring barely got a look in
seems as though we just can`t win.
Summer appeared and now it`s gone
a few days of warmth, it`s just not on.
Come on summer you have to try
else I`m going to sigh and sigh!!!!

Do It With Wood! #Folksy

I did a blog post the other day titled Do it with Cotton. That one gave me the idea for this one. I thought it might be a nice idea to maybe have a series of Do it with.. blogs.
I don`t know about you, but I love wood. The grain, the smoothness and the warmth all just make it special. I think it holds a fascination for many of us.
Some of these items today are made from reclaimed wood which is brilliant as is any recycling. We all need to do our bit for the planet.
Now I know I have said this before and then lapsed, but this time I shall try harder. I really am going to cut down on blogging, at least for the summer. The intention is to do 4 a week which will free up quite a bit of time for my crafting. Hopefully it will work out, I`ll have to see. I have planned to do 1 for Monday & Tuesday, then Wednesday & Thursday, Friday & Saturday and a stand alone on Sunday but that could change a bit when I`m away. I am on holiday in June so may well close down for the whole month, I`ll see.
Anyway, it`s nice to see the sun staying with us and the temperatures warming up as well, just what we all need.

A Poem I wrote a few weeks ago.

We are the human race
and set up quite a pace.
We strive for the new
and that is the glue
that holds us all together
as united we weather
everything life throws at us
we carry on without a fuss.
In good times we drift apart,
in bad we remember our heart.
Adversity makes us strong
then we fight against all wrong.
Now we must stand and fight
to bring back the light.
There`s damage to repair,
it`s time for all to care!

Owlish Fun! #Etsy

This is for Louise of Loutul this weeks Craftyfolk team, Shop of the Week. Last week I had my turn and it was great, so I hope Louise has just as much fun.
Her bio says:
I am an avid crafter who loves embroidery and pewter embossing. I am also a keen scrapbooker and spend most of my free time doing one of the three. I do work a 5 day week as a business analyst so don`t have as much time for my crafts as I would like.
Louise has a wonderful and diverse shop. Her love of her craft is obvious in the unusual and beautiful display. If you are looking for something different this is the place to go. I won`t tell you all the wonderful treasures on offer, as it`s more fun to discover them for yourselves.
Have a browse through all these fabulous shops if you get the chance, it`s time well spent.
Yesterday I was looking at bungalows with my younger daughter`s in laws, a lovely couple. It was very enjoyable and we ended up in a lovely village that has everything needed and more. After the viewing of a gorgeous place we had lunch in the local pub there, a habit I could easily get into.
After returning home we had coffee with my daughter and son in law and then a short time later my eldest daughter and hubby arrived with the youngest two children. I did of course have to go on the trampoline with them for a short while. Then after tea my 16 year old granddaughter arrived with two of her friends for a very brief visit. Quite a sociable day.

Flying by night, occasionally by day
stealthily they seek their prey.
Moving like a creeping mist,
vanished in a sudden twist.
Swooping through the deep dark wood
just as all the owls should.
A bird of prey, looking cute
characterised by the spooky hoot.
Slowly and sleepily they blink,
and occasionally seem to wink.
Small animals are their food
sometimes needed for their brood.
Owls are considered to be so wise,
regardless of their size.
I wonder how much they know
do they learn more as they grow?
They always look so soft to touch,
as though they wouldn`t weigh much.
I wouldn`t want to hold a real one
in case I find my finger gone.
I`ll stick with these on here
very much safer, that is clear!!
