Personally for You #Etsy

This was a treasury I made for this weeks CraftyFolk featured seller Lauren of Green Street Mosaics.
Her bio says:
Green Street Mosaics specializes in custom mosaics - mirrors, name art, house signs, frames, and more.
Green Street Mosaics was named after one of the beautiful tree-lined streets in downtown historic Annapolis, where I used to live with my husband Bill and our dog Quincy. We now reside in St. Petersburg, Florida where all custom mosaic pieces are made in my home studio.
I am completely self taught and believe that each piece I create continues to teach me something. My favorite thing about creating mosaics is using so many small, unrelated pieces of glass and putting them together like a big puzzle until they form a unique piece of art.
I thrive on experimenting with different combinations of color families and hues. Some of the prettiest mirrors I have created are ones that I have made from unconventional color combinations.
When making a custom piece, I always think about the customer for whom I am creating. I am 100% about communication and enjoy getting to know my customers as I create their custom pieces of mosaic art.

The day began, the sky was red
I should have still been in my bed.
As the sky became light
wow, what a gorgeous sight.
Streaks of red up on high
in various shades across the sky.
A different sunrise every day,
more beautiful than words can say.
So much beauty all around
from the sky down to the ground.
All we have to do is look and see
this natures artistry for all is free.
A clear and crisp night
is always such a welcome sight.
Twinklung stars in a velvet sky
always make me gaze and sigh!!

Dandelion Wishes #FolksyFriday

I hadn`t given any thought to the theme for today`s Folksy Friday at all and decided that I really ought to. So of I toddled to Folksy and looked at the front page for inspiration. There I saw dandelion seeds and decided to put dandelions into the search to see what I came up with.
There weren`t hundreds but I was quite surprised by how many did appear and delighted too as that meant my theme was settled.
Seeing dandelions and their seeds always takes me back to my childhood, picking them and blowing to count the time. We called them dandelion clocks and when the seeds blew away they were fairies. I know many people also make wishes when they blow them.
I hope you enjoy my theme and choices today. I think it`s nice to do something a bit different.
Yesterday I looked after my youngest grandson while my daughter was at work. I always ask him what he would like to do and it was no surprise that he wanted to go on the bus.
We had a lovely time ambling about and having our lunch out, then it was home for a little play before he went home. Lovely to spend some time with little ones, they have such a different view of the world, great to talk to them.

Dandelion clocks are memories of childhood
when all things were simple and good.
We could play out all day long
and nobody thought it was wrong.
We picked the clocks and blew
them so hard the seeds flew
high through the air, dancing,
like fairies with their prancing.
We didn`t know when we scattered seeds
that we were making many more weeds.
It was all just childish fun
over when the day was done.
A childhood that was wild and free
playing all day, my brothers and me.
Not so for children of today
they don`t have much outdoor play.
Don`t get to kick through the leaves
having fun, getting dirty knees.
We came home happy and tired.
Today`s children go to bed still wired
from playing on a computer game
their fun just isn`t the same!!

Snuggle Up #Etsy

I couldn`t decide what to have today and then I was thinking how chilly it is and decided that I ought to show delicious winter warmers to snuggle up in or with. After all winter is starting to bite a bit now with the chill winds and low temperatures. Even when the sun comes out it doesn`t warm up much. Brrrrr!
I don`t know how warm it is elswhere but here in Britain it is very definitely time to get out the hats, scarves and gloves, not to mention anything else that can help with the staying warm bit.
Yesterday I went into the city as I needed some ribbon and buttons. I was very good and virtuous and didn`t buy any yarn at all. Yay me!!
Upon my return I had a letter informing me that my direct debit payments to the power company were going up, not by a little but by £31.00 a month! Okay we all know how much gas and electric keep rising so the company`s can keep making millions, but that was ridiculous.
It was also the tone of the letter, not asking, but telling. So I got on the phone and told them that I didn`t authorise them to raise my payment and questioned the legality of it. I listened to the supposed reasoning, excuses, for a while but was adamant they shouldn`t do it. The guy on the other end of the phone told me he couldn`t change it, that it was already done, so I demanded to speak to a manager. While waiting I got cut off, so went through the whole rigmarole again, the wait, etc, a voice telling me there were high volumes of calls. I couldn`t think why... could it be everyone had got their letters? After an hour of debate the upshot was, they could do this and it was legal even though I didn`t agree or give permission.
I was furious and asked twitter what they thought. Three quarters of an hour later the company phoned back and agreed that they would return my direct debit back to normal.
So why not do this is the first place? Grr.

My day started out rather nice
got some ribbon at a good price.
Got some buttons I wanted too
I was looking out for blue.
At home the day went downhill
by 2.30 p.m I`d had my fill.
I`d argued till I was blue in the face
keeping up quite a pace.
A power company was on it`s high horse
the customer didn`t matter of course.
Legalised robbery was going on
and I really went into one.
Who gave them this power I ask?
Now it should be the politicians task
to change this ridiculous law.
Now isn`t that what they are for?
I pay monthly for a better deal
but apparently set the seal
for them to rob me blind
I`m telling you, I really mind.
It`s time now to say NO.
Otherwise they`ll all have to go!!

Transport #Etsy

I have been away for the weekend and today I shall return on the train from visiting family in Milton Keynes. As always hubby will have remained at home, keeping the home fires burning, so to speak.
It`s possible i may be all talked out, possible but not likely. I shall certainly have had lot`s of laughs and catching up, all good fun. I shall also have been very busy making new things while I`ve been away, the fruits of which you will get to se in my shops over the next few days.
I am hoping that i will finally have got round to sewing the new needle book/cases especially as another new picture is almost finished. The new one is a wintery scene with a robin.
Thought I might have transport on here today in view of my travelling.

Could they have imagined a hundred years ago
just what modern technology would show.
The metal monsters in the sky
making vapour trails on high.
The trains now so sleek and fast
there and gone, so quickly past.
Buildings that tower above us all
seeming to grow ever more tall.
So many people all around
rushing fast, barely touching the ground.
The constant noise all about
some music an abrasive shout.
So many mobile devices that get selected
the strange people that get elected.
What would those of years gone by
think of it all, would it make them sigh?
Or maybe they would laugh with delight
totally amazed at every sight.
The world now moves on so quick
everything hurrying past in a tick!!
