Festive Cards & Wrap #Handmade #Folksy

Today I thought I would show you cards and wrapping related items. Cards tags, gift bags, and paper for your Christmas gifts. After all we often buy those sort of things first. Cards are usually mixed in with other blogs, themed or otherwise, so I thought it would make a nice change to have more of them. The tags and wrapping are to add more variety and because they tend to come under the same heading and let`s face it we all need them too.
I have to say that while looking I was amazed at the variety of cards as well as the individuality. The tags too are amazing, so many different ones and so beautifully done. I was also surprised to see fabric wrapping for presents as well as the bags for putting your pressies in. Present wrapping need never be boring again.
Yesterday I was busy on the computer and then took my grandson to the cinema. We saw Tin Tin and we both enjoyed it, naturally we had to have popcorn and drinks.
Then last night it was a baby shower for my daughters friend. She had her twins early but they are doing very well. Usually the baby shower is before the birth but my daughter decided to go ahead with it anyway as the invitations had all gone out. I took two Rainbow Cloud Name Plaques with Rainbow ribbon and of course each of their names on in pink letters. Hubby did a lovely job with them and they looked great.

I awoke to a wet grey morning
no pretty sight as day was dawning,
of the sun bathing the world in golden light
an early morning, stunning sight.
Instead all the world was grey
not a good way to start the day.
Very soon we`ll be shivering more
as winter displays what`s in store
for all of us. It`ll soon be here,
the snow and ice creating fear.
The country all slowing down
for many causing us to frown.
The chidren though, love it so
not bothered, loving the snow.
Out and about in it happily all day
not caring if it`s cold, wanting to play.
Building a snowman, maybe a fort,
hoping they won`t get caught
by a stray snowball in flight,
trying hard to stay light
on their feet to dodge quick
before they feel that icy lick.
With rosy cheeks they look so fair,
lot`s of laughter in the air.
The best part of winter is the fun
to be had when the work is done!

Festive Fun #FolksyFriday

Today I am going to remind you of something that is creeping ever closer, CHRISTMAS!! Everyone seems to be buryng their heads in the sand about how close it is and I just know there will be a big last minute panic with lot`s of people missing out on their favourite things.
So why not be wise and at least make start if you haven`t done so already. There must be about 8 weeks left now, which isn`t long at all. Eeeeek!! Haven`t made a christmas cake yet. It will have to be brandied daily instead of weekly as it is so late.
Anyway I digress. I will be showing you lots of things over the coming weeks that will be great for decorating the house, for keeping you warm and for gifts. Hopefully it will save you all a bit of time in the looking about department.
Don`t forget too that the BIG CRAFTfest event will be on at the end of November for all those last minute shoppers. Or for those who have done all their pressie buying and now have the time and spare cash to look for delectable items to adorn themselves.
Had a busy day yesterday, I know, shocking. Parcelled up and sent off a cloud shelf that sold from the Great Green Dreams website. Made a shepherds pie as the grandchildren were visiting for tea and took some photos. A few of them will have to be redone, as it was so grey and gloomy today. I didn`t think the turquoise collar and hat were going to show the colours properly, but actually they turned out quite well, so I will be listing them soon.
Then had lots of noise, eating and laughter with all four grandchildren here for a few hours and then it was time for computer work before relaxing with the crochet.
Today I shall be taking the 5 yr old grandson to the cinema which of course means too much popcorn eating. Yay!!

OctoberOwls Crafts #Handmade #Folksy

Thought I would show a lovely array of goodies from Folksy`s daily listing club, the October Owls, today. It`s so tempting each day looking at all the new listings and almost irrisistable when you click on them and read the descriptions. Must confess though, that it is quite a struggle alot of the time, to resist that urge to buy.
There are so many of them that would make fabulous gifts and even more that I would love to have for myself. If I bought everything I loved I would need another house to keep them all in.
I was at work yesterday and feeling a bit grotty with a headache and sore throat, plus a few extra aches here and there. Not to mention the running hot and cold. Hopefully it won`t come to anything and I will soon bounce back. I expect I`ve been in contact with some virulent germs and my body is busy fighting back. A couple of days at most should see me back to normal, touch wood.
I still managed to crochet at lunchtime and in the evening. I just finished another ruffled scarf in a gorgeous yarn of plums and purples. I seem to have quite a thing for these flowing colour yarns. If I make something with a plain yarn I invariable add a crocheted pattern to it. I just can`t seem to help it. I start and before I know it I am adding a pattern to take away the plainness. I`m not only a yarn addict, I am a pattern addict too. There is just no hope for me at all.
No more waffle, time to write a rhyme of some sort.

Why am I up at this time
besides writing this rhyme?
I must be nuts, I must be mad
or maybe I am very sad.
None of those at all,
it`s just the work call.
Always got so much to do,
I expect just like you.
So I`m up before the dawn,
to work in the early morn.
I get to see the night fade away,
turning very slowly into day.
Colours fade and another grows bright,
I never tire of this wondrous sight.
A different vista each morn
as I watch the day dawn.
An early start is worth so much
as I watch the sun rise and touch
the land all waiting and ready
for daylight, so slow and steady.
Once the day is finally here
then I know it`s time to steer
myself towards the breakfast table,
I really do eat, it`s no fable.
You thought I was chained to this chair
at the computer but that wouldn`t be fair.
I promise I do have a life as well
although at times it`s hard to tell.
But I do what I love and love what I do,
creating and making especially for you!

Hats #Handmade #Folksy

I thought I might do hats today. After all it is that time of year, whether it`s to keep the rain or snow off or just to keep warm. Maybe even worn to finish off an outfit. There are so many delightful styles in such a variety of materials too.
Well I headed off to see what I could find and could have kept on adding for days. So many gorgeous hats, it`s unbelievable. I did expect quite a lot, but the amount and variety just amazed me.
I think I need to get out more.....
If you can`t find what you need here, then have a browse through each of the shops they all have so much more to offer. Then you could do what I did and put hats into the search box to find lot`s more. I warn you though, you need a spare hour or two.
Yesterday I managed to add a couple of things to my WoW Thank You shop which was good. The grandchildren visited for a while which was lovely. I was discussing knitting with the 12 yr old who is having another go at it. He wanted to make a blanket, so we were discussing options and colours and textures. He loves making things and can turn his hand to pretty much anything and do a good job.
In the afternoon I visited my neice who just had an operation on her toe. So I took a few crafting things for her to have a go at when she gets bored as they can`t go far at the minute. She is supposed to be staying off it but not doing a very good job of it as she is such an active child.
While I was there I started her off on crochet, so now she is busily making chains. Once she has mastered that we will move on to the next bit.
Okay I suppose that`s enough waffle, although I will tell you that I made a chicken casserole that filled the house with delicious smells and tasted yummy.
