Wild Things! #Etsy

I loved this very different collection and thought you all might enjoy it too. It holds something for everyone, from littlies to big ones. Not sure if that`s a word `littlies` but if it wasn`t before it is now.
I love making up words, it`s such good fun.

Yesterday was busy preparing for the influx of grandchildren and the eldest`s boyfriend, all coming for tea, that`s 5 of them altogether.
I prepared some more soaps ready for felting, they are just awaiting the time and hot and cold water.
Spent some time on a crochet pattern. Decided I would write a pattern just for a new casting on stitch and the linked trebles I use in everything I make. The new cast on is much neater and stretchier than starting with a chain and the linked trebles make a lovely stretchy textured fabric. Gives it a bit of a pattern too.
So I decided to write it all down and add pictures to make it even easier. I`m about halfway through now, so it will soon be available.

The call of the wild is in us all
and many do heed it`s call.
Quite a few will just say hush
but others need the adrenaline rush.
Folk head off, tired of indenture,
more than ready for an adventure.
Some go trekking in the wild
not really the place for a child.
Others go climbing a mountain high
needing to get closer to the sky.
There are lot`s that leap from scary places
with a big smile on their happy faces.
Pushing against our boundaries is good
something that we probably should
do more, getting out of the comfort zone
though sometimes it`s good to lie prone.
That last one is pretty good for me,
I get my best ideas that way, you see!!

Planet Earth #Etsy

Love this treasury I found. Something totally different, unusual and unique. Hope you all enjoy it as much as me.

If you read yesterdays blog you know that I intend to offer the Pattern/Tutorial for the novelty shelves my hubby used to make. Much to my dismay it was much harder than I anticipated.
I really hadn`t thought through the logistics of it all. Hubby drew 3 of them out at full size. Sorted. Then I took photos. Ooops, instantly going wrong. I couldn`t turn pics into a full size PDF file, it just didn`t work. Back to the drawing board.
We played around with ideas, gave it some thought and headed for a local printers. They could, after a few false starts, scan the images and make them A4. Now I could scan them in and turn them back to the right size. Simple!
Well that`s what I thought. Hours later I was very close, but it wasn`t quite perfect. Today I will be trying again. Sigh!!!
Still once I get the first one sorted the rest will be easy, or at least easier, I hope!

A verse I wrote sitting in a waiting room.

I`m writing a little ditty
about us all sitting pretty.
All lined up in the waiting room
pervaded by an air of gloom.
The queue begins to move
we`re getting in the groove.
Now it`s starting to move fast
was quick in and out, the last.
Will the movement keep flowing
and the momentum keep on going?
The crowd never seems to get less
and I`m watching closely, I confess.
Poor doctors. As some depart, more arrive
and it seems no matter how they strive
they can`t succeed, till they call a halt
and for their homes they thankfully bolt!!

Fantasy Fun #Etsy

I had great fun doing this treasury. It was for the Craftyfolk team`s Scavenger hunt that was named Fantasy by the previous weeks winner.
The idea is that a list of words to do with the chosen subject are picked and we have to find items that match those words. The majority come from team mates but 6 must come from outside the team. It can be great fun and you get to find things you might never come across otherwise.
Yesterday I had an idea. I told my hubby but for some reason he groaned, not really sure why, unless it was because it involved some work for him.
I don`t know how many of you know that he used to make novelty children`s shelves, with coat peg racks and door hangers to match. Last year he stopped making them after being diagnosed with asbestosis, mainly because however good the masks he wore the dust would still make him cough. (I am still selling the few left in stock off in my Folksy shop at much reduced prices.)
Anyway, we sold them through Not On The High Street and since he stopped we`ve still had enquiries about the shelves, so I had an idea!!! I suggested he drew them out, at original size, from the original patterns with all the dimensions on. Then wrote out an instruction sheet for me to type up and I would turn the whole thing into a PDF file that could be downloaded for those interested in making their own or getting someone to make one up for them. What do you think?
I don`t like disappointing people so it seems like a good alternative.

Unbelievably it`s come back again
all the wind and driving rain.
Battering so hard against the brick
I`m really glad the walls are thick.
Glad too that we`re perched on a hill
having watched our river reach over fill.
The tide comes in as the rain comes down
I can tell you, it causes many a frown.
It`s not a good place to be anymore,
the river, with water lapping the door.
Now the wind howls as the water rises
the results don`t bring any surprises.
Here we aren`t quite so bad
for so many others I feel sad.
What must it be like to suffer so long,
the sheer lack of help so very wrong.
The government official`s silence not funny.
For other countries they hand out OUR money.
For too long, our own were in distress
and left to wallow in the flooded mess!!

Caramel #Etsy

When I saw this collection it appealed to me greatly. Could it be because I like Caramel I wonder? Mmmmm, soft toffee....
Sadly that was my first thought, especially when I saw the soap. I thought it was edible. I hope you enjoy these delights as much as I did.

Yesterday I didn`t do any making apart from some crocheting in the evening. I played hookey and had coffee and lunch with a friend. We had lot`s of chat and some laughs. I went exploring for paper. I`m still seeking some nice original and different papers for making notebooks/journals.
When I went looking with my hubby the day before, he asked. What are you looking for? My reply? I don`t know, but I`ll know it when I see it.
He was exasperated by that but it`s how I work. I can`t describe what I want because I can`t picture it precisely yet but once I see it I`ll know.
Do you work like that or is it just me?

Sometimes I don`t have much time
to think and make up a rhyme.
Other times I think very hard
but still cannot be a bard.
I often wish I could be witty
and write a funny little ditty.
Try though, hard as I might
there is no humour at all in sight.
No witticisms to brighten the day,
it`s tough, is all I can say.
You`ll have to make do with boring
this will likely have you all snoring.
But the pictures will bring you pleasure
